Friendly & comfortable but the...

Liked: The room was comfortable and the bed too. Friendly staff.
Disliked: The keycard didn't work initially and it took 3 goes to get the door open. My friend found the same. I was too hot in bed. I found the doona too warm & so did my friend. I had to strip the doona out of the top part of the sheets and just sleep with the sheets on the top half of me & the doona on the lower half of me. I even took off my long cotton pj pants because it was too warm. It would have been nice if there had been some wool or cotton blankets in the cupboard. Natural fibres breathe! There was also a constant noise ( Room 207). I'm not sure if it was the air conditioning/ heating or some other system in the hotel but it was in all night & made it hard to get to sleep.

Disliked: Overall the whole property looked like it needed a lot of work to be completed on it to be at the standard I would expect from a Mercure hotel

Disliked: Room 129 badly in need of update.. lighting very poor as was the bathroom. Shower over painted bath, yes painted. It was peeling and looked very shabby, not what’s expected in a hotel bathroom.

Disliked: Room needed some repairs and smelt like someone had been smoking in it

Passable

Liked: Location was good, easy to walk and tram around. The most-used parts of the room were clean (toilet, shower, linen, floors).
Disliked: The rest of the room hadn't been cleaned for some time (window sills, wall tiles in bathroom etc). Overall the building is rather tired and in need of some love, but it's fine for sleeping and showering if you're mostly planning to be out and about.
