Disappointed
Liked: The quality of the room and bathroom was fine.
Disliked: The fact that we had to have our key cards reset every day.The fact that we were there for three nights but the room wasn't serviced and the tea/coffee wasn't topped up. For the price we.paid that's the least I'd expect.

Happy stay but beds could...

Disliked: Bed was really high - difficult to get into

It was alright.
Liked: The blackout curtains looked good and worked. It was nice to have a window to open. It was quiet. The room was spacious and had two chairs to sit on. The bedside lights took a bit of working out, but the spotlights were useful and stylish. There was a nice big window in the bathroom and a close-up mirror. I liked the view.
Disliked: The underfloor heating in the bathroom was too warm/hot for me. My husband had a bath and couldn't get the bath to empty.

This is not a 4-star...
Liked: Location was next door to the place I was visiting while I was visiting. The receptionist was very welcoming and from the outside the hotel looked really nice.
Disliked: The bed was very small for a double bed and really hard, I woke up with some minor back pains each morning. Some of the lights in the room where not turning on, which is a concern for a 4-star hotel. I notified the receptionist and they sent someone up to try and fix it, the maintenance man came and tried to fix the light but was unable to and said he was going to get a new bulb but he never came back even when he promised that he will be coming back to fix it.The breakfast was okay but the scrambled eggs where very runny which was very off putting, it looked like they would give you a stomachache. The floors were creaky and the hotel did seem like it could do with a lot of maintenance work it is a little run down to be classed as a 4 star hotel.

Needs some attention
Liked: Bed comfortable, extra tea available.
Disliked: Telephone made constant ticking noise, constant dripping through night, poss Aircon, TV ceased to work.We waited 5 minutes to see any staff in restaurant then gave up and ordered take away (presumably public restaurant not serviced due to a wedding).

Superb
Liked: On entering the reception, there was a beautiful aroma that permeated the area. I enquired what the scent was because I wanted to purchase it for my home, unfortunately the receptionist didn't know. There were lovely places to sit and have a drink. Elevated decor. I booked 3 twin rooms for a group of 6 middle aged girlfriends, for 2 nights. The rooms were a good size and well equipped. They were clean and the beds were very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Absolutely amazing - nothing was too much! The twin room (with the bath) - the toilet stopped flushing but this was rectified immediately. One evening, we ordered a takeaway which we ate in one of our rooms. Plates, cutlery and napkins were provided by the hotel. Once we had finished our meal, a member of staff came to the room and took all the plates, cutlery and the food containers away. Plenty of free parking. We would definitely recommend 'The Mercure MK' and we are looking forward to staying here again on our next visit to Milton Keynes.
Disliked: The restaurant was okay however we thought the menu was very small with limited choices for all (vegetarians, vegans and gluten free).Breakfast selection was good however the vegetarian sausages are carb based (potato with some veggies) and not protein. Meat sausages are protein so why not offer a vegan protein sausage? May I recommend Richmond, who do a delicious protein vegan sausage. All the twin rooms were slightly different; 1. Rm 157 (end corner) Had a bath. 2. Rm 158 Had just a shower. 3. Rm 160 (end corner) Had flooring and no carpet. (These were not issues - just an observation).
