I had difficulty in finding...

Liked: The staff was great.
Disliked: The food both breakfast as well as dinner were mediocre.

Don't believe what you see--Even...

Liked: The staff was uniformly pleasant and helpful--especially Jada at front desk and Naveen in cafe. Refrigerator in the room was wonderful. Ductless heat pump provided significant comfort during 32C temps. Location just steps from the tram and close to gate 8 of Grand Prix track in Albert Park were part of the reason we booked.
Disliked: It was not a Mercure and has not been a Mercure for over a year. It was bought out and is now called the Oaks. The bedding was Queen size laid over a king mattress and felt like canvas on the skin, The toilet paper was so thin, we bought our own at Woolies. Coffee maker didn't work. I don't believe the room was vacuumed before our arrival. Housekeepers were hard to find for getting fresh towels over our 6 day stay. So much construction around the hotel that the balcony was unusable.

Close to city, easy access...

Liked: This establishemnt is actually no longer a Mercure, but rather now an Oaks Hotel. Luckily when we arrived and queried the booking they had our booking on record. Don't mind Oaks, stayed with other Oaks locations.
Disliked: Dinner was overpriced and nothing to rave about. Better food in Melbourne city just a 15min tram ride up the road

Great location

Liked: I liked the location and the breakfast was good.
Disliked: The breakfast allowance of 25 AUD each didn't cover the breakfast.

Not as advertised

Liked: The staff were friendly and tried to help
Disliked: We had no hot water for the entire stay - lukewarm in the morning and cold at all other times.The hotel is advertised as having a restaurant. However does not. only opened for breakfast.This is a strange hotel, has two names. Everything is strange.

Very good

Liked: The breakfast was very good..
Disliked: This is not the mecure anymore. It is now oaks. The lounge chair was very soft. We didn't have any cooking pans, even though we had hot plates to cook with.
