Country Charm Meets Concert Convenience in Kent

Modern comfort wrapped in classic countryside style, the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from some of Kent’s best music venues. Built around a Georgian country house and set in 26 acres of private grounds, this hotel combines rural elegance with practical amenities like free parking and free high-speed WiFi. Located near Leeds Castle and just off Junction 8 of the M20, it’s a strategic base for concert-goers traveling across the South East.

Whether you're heading to a festival or a one-night gig, you'll enjoy a restful stay and easy access to Maidstone and beyond.

Why Concert-goers love it

With its easy access to the M20 and proximity to Maidstone music venues, this hotel is a great pick for fans driving in for a show. After the encore, retreat to the quiet countryside setting for a relaxing night’s sleep. The hotel’s 11am checkout lets you enjoy a slow morning after a late night, and there’s plenty of space to unwind or recharge—indoors at the health club or outdoors on the expansive grounds.

Who this Hotel is great for

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant and bar serve hearty meals and drinks, with options for late dinners after your show. If you're in the mood to explore, local pubs and eateries are easy to reach by car or taxi.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn't host live music, its relaxed bar is a cozy place to continue the night with a local drink. Nearby Maidstone offers pubs, lounges, and late-night spots to keep the good vibes going after the show.

What People Say

Guests love the beautiful grounds and the mix of historic charm with modern amenities. Many reviews highlight the easy parking, quiet rooms, and helpful staff. The pool and sauna get special mention as a great way to unwind after a late night.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the decor could use a refresh and that the hotel can feel a bit dated in places. It’s also worth noting that you’ll likely need a car or taxi to reach concert venues and nearby nightlife.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want peaceful countryside comfort without sacrificing location or convenience, the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel hits all the right notes.

Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Danella W, Rayleigh, visiting Mote Park Maidstone Mon, 14 September 2015

We were put in a room that backed onto the car park, it was very noisy. Also there was no kettle in the rooms so we were unable to make a cup of tea. We have stayed in hotels that cost less and are better maintained and you are better looked after. I would not recommend this hotel and it was out near busy motorways and a £17 cab ride to get to Mote Park.

Liked: Clean apart from the dead flies on the window sill. Lots of parking space.
Disliked: Not good value for money.

Great location for Key Kent...

Liked: Nice clean bedrooms and bathrooms and main hotel areas all fine. The hotel is in need of a refurb but that said perfectly adequate and offers good vfm.Great location for Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst etc. Reception staff (Steve particularly) very helpful and welcoming. Bar staff very efficient. Self Service breakfast fine with good choice
Disliked: Food in restaurant ok for one evening but we ate out the second as restaurant service was poor and staff short tempered. We waited over 45 minutes for our meal with no apology for the delay . Accept they all might be having a bad day but really not good enough.

Disliked: No downsides given the very reasonable price.

My favourite spot to stay...

Liked: Breakfast - an amazing breakfast as always, tasty, perfectly presented, and such a wonderful range from full English to gluten free options on the menu. I love this quirky building, the room was comfortable and clean, perfect place for safe and sound sleep.

Liked: We had a plug in fan which we used as the room was very hot.
Disliked: There was no mini fridge. Room direction numbers were not that good. Only 2 pillows on double bed and only 1 in wardrobe. A big step along the floor under window which ment the person getting out of bed that side did not have much space. No plugs by the bedside.

Perfect location, good facilities &...

Liked: Large hotel set in large grounds with modern room facilities in a great location just off the M20.Buffet breakfast is excellent & evening menus look interesting & varied & reasonably priced by hotel standards. The hotel also has a fitness centre with a pool & hot tub. Spa treatments are available at Pavo & happy to recommend Jordan for a variety of massages.Check-in with Tia was a good experience & made sure we were set up for our stay. Young lady serving in the bar was welcoming & friendly. Restaurant staff are all very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: Some of the interior decor in the public areas could benefit from a refresh, but currently not a deal breaker. The exterior of the building needs attention as the entrance area is looking very tired.
