Happy overall and would stay...
Liked: Location was good overlooking the Thames and near to town centre. Small balcony was nice as double doors could be opened out. Breakfast was fine with reasonable selection. Bed was enormous, mattress and pillows very comfortable. Overall very clean. Plenty of hot water and powerful shower.
Disliked: The bathroom could do with upgrading and maybe slightly better furniture. Coffee and tea was not automatically replenished after the first night. Disappointing as we stayed for 3 nights. Most of the balconies are shared with adjacent room. It would have been nice if there was an obvious divider across the balcony to discourage people in the next room from looking in when doors are open (as our neighbours did several times).

Wouldn’t be back
Liked: Breakfast was ok. Bed was comfortable.
Disliked: Couldn’t find the hotel as the name on the outside of the building is completely different, it’s called The Thames Lodge. Had to go round 3 times then went in to see if it was the Mercury. The phone number online is not connected so couldn’t phone to ask them. Staff there very slow getting drinks. Cut our keys off as they hadn’t taken a card for payment when we checked in (even though we’d paid through booking.com) so had to go back to reception to get them re-activated. Given an accessible room rather than a room with a door to the outside. Booked a river view room but all we could see out if the windows was trees. Bathroom very dated and needs painting. Sliding door to bathroom very wobbly.

It was a lovely cosy...
Liked: The staff were really friendly and made me feel really welcome, particularly the supervisor in the restaurant and the two receptionist ladies.
Disliked: I really didn’t like the white shower turning dial as it wasn’t too bad to turn on but exceedingly difficult to turn off with wet hands. It would be almost impossible for any weaker or arthritic older people.
