Modern and inviting, Mercure Inverness Hotel sits right in the heart of the city centre, overlooking the beautiful River Ness. Just steps from the shops, pubs, and Inverness Rail Station, it's the kind of place where you can drop your bags and be out the door to your gig in minutes. With free high-speed WiFi, cosy rooms, and a relaxed vibe, it’s a great base for music fans visiting the Highlands.

Why Concert-goers love it

The location is a major win — less than a 5-minute walk from Inverness Rail Station and close to popular music venues. After the show, you won't have far to go, and the hotel’s 24-hour room service means you can grab a bite or relax with a drink whenever you return. Despite being in the lively centre, many guests report the hotel rooms are surprisingly quiet — perfect for post-concert wind-downs. Flexible check-in from 15:00 and check-out at 11:00 gives you a bit of breathing room, especially if you’re catching a train or flight the next day.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends heading to a gig together
- Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list performance
- Couples planning a musical weekend in Inverness
- Fans who want to recharge in peace after the show

Food and Drink Options

You won’t go hungry here. The Brasserie Restaurant serves modern bistro-style meals with river views, ideal for a pre-concert dinner or relaxed breakfast the next day. If your gig finishes late, the hotel offers 24-hour room service so you can still grab a bite. The friendly bar and lounge area are great spots to compare setlists over a nightcap. Plus, the central location means you're surrounded by walkable dining options.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel keeps things mellow on-site, you're only steps away from Inverness’s bustling pubs, bars, and late-night lounges. Whether you're looking for live music, a lively pub atmosphere, or a quiet dram of whisky, it’s all within walking distance.

What People Say

Guests love the central location, many noting it's an easy stroll to both the station and the city’s best nightlife. Reviewers often highlight the friendly staff, clean rooms, and comfortable beds. The river views from the restaurant and some rooms are frequently praised, adding a touch of calm to your stay.

Areas for Improvement

Some visitors mention that the decor feels a little dated in parts, and parking can be a bit tight. But most agree that the location and service more than make up for it.

The Bottom Line

Mercure Inverness Hotel offers concert-goers a prime city-centre location with round-the-clock comfort, perfect for a stress-free night before and after the show.

So la la la

Liked: It was in a central location, near the train and bus station. The river Ness was next to the hotel. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars in the vicinity including the Victorian Market.Hotel staff professional and friendly. The lobby is welcoming. We booked a compact room with breakfast. I know it was June, the tourist season, but at £199 a night, this was far too expensive.
Disliked: The room was small but adequate with kettle, a tea and coffee and small packets of shortbread. No safe in the room.We had a queen size bed. One side of the bed was up against wall so I had to climb over my partner to get out of bed. The bathroom was modern but the washbasin was tiny.with no overflow. The basin filled up quickly as it appeared clogged. The taps in the shower were very difficult to turn. The room faced onto Church St. It was very loud with cars, buses and pedestrians. At 1am we were still awake due guests leaving the pubs who were extremely loud. The seagulls are also very annoying, squawking all night. If you closed the window, the room got hot. In the early morning hours after finally falling asleep, the bin collecting lorry came along followed by the street cleaning lorry. Breakfast was adequate but not fantastic. We prefer a continental breakfast but there were no cheeses or cold cuts. Coffee was excellent and the restaurant staff very polite and friendly. The front desk held our bags while we explored the town until we were ready to leave.

PROPERTY NOT THE SAME AS...

Liked: Property location was great, parking was also a plus. Bed is large and comfortable
Disliked: The property is not the property in the 1st photo VERY DECEIVING ! This was very disappointing when we arrived to a hotel that is not a heritage building like the buildings portrayed in the photos on booking.com. We found our room very subpar for 250 pound a night. Also not sure about the painting on the roof ? no streaming services worked on the TV and Showerscreen allowed water to splash all over the floor. Rooms were noisy when others in corridor or closing their doors.

Liked: Good location. Helpful staff. Good check out time. Comfortable room.
Disliked: External appearance looks fairly 'tired'. Internal appearance is better - but rooms a bit dated. Plastic bins (3) in the middle of the lobby - detracts from the appearance.

WORST HOTEL EVER

Liked: Location
Disliked: On entering hotel carpet in lobby was filthy and very worn and shabby. When entering our PRIVILEGE ROOM we were extremely disappointed to say the least. Another shabby stained carpet. Room was absolutely boiling hot, with no air conditioning. We eventually got a fan which wasn’t fit for purpose, also no fridge in room. On questioning staff about room I was told air con was only available in smaller rooms on lower floor, we didn’t have any because we paid too much??? Seriously!!!! In our booking confirmation we were told we would get a newspaper every morning (pic of this added) staff said this shouldn’t have been in our confirmation and we wouldn’t get one, with absolutely no effort to find out why . Bathroom looked relatively new but shower tray was very slippery and dangerous, as it said on a label on the bathroom wall, I had to ask 3 times before we eventually got a shower mat . Absolutely ridiculous. A room in same hotel chain in Aberdeen was about a third of the price we paid . WE WILL NEVER GO BACK THETE AGAIN WAY WAY OVERPRICED. NO WAY WAS THIS ROOM WAS PRIVILEGE!!!!

A good base for a...

Liked: The location cannot be faulted, only minutes from train and bus stations as well as the banks of the River Ness. Nearness to the train station was an essential with a late arrival by train into Inverness. As well as setting one up well for the day ahead, breakfast serving times allowed for early getaways for hikes through the hills, too. Otherwise, the room worked well with good views along the river.
Disliked: There was a little confusion on the first morning regarding my pre-payment for breakfast, which was sorted by a quick check with reception. My own lack of alertness prevented me from mentioning that we discussed this on arrival too. For the sake of other guests, take care to ensure that doors close without slamming; there is no tapering action on the door closers. Here, I cannot claim innocence regarding noisy closures, but it is something that comes to mind.
