Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: The croissants and pain au Chocolat were nice at breakfast. We got fresh water and biscuits in the room each day of our stay
Disliked: The check in experience said it all at the start of our stay. Cold and uninviting, we would have been better received and welcomed in McDonalds... We specifically asked for a room without interconnected doors, the reception staff looked confused as if our request was totally reasonable and said the room was not interconnected. On arrival to the room, we were greeted by an interconnecting door. The room carpet was filthy, there was long hairs and cut nails on the floor, the little towel bird arrangement planted on the bed had obviously been re-used several times as it was visibly dirty. It was the first time we walked in a hotel room with shoes on all the time...The shower gel was not refilled and on the last day we actually had none left. We did get new towels everyday without asking, although we see this as very wasteful and non environmentally friendly. The safe locker in the room had low battery and did not lock, we asked for new batteries, they never arrived. The breakfast was poor and items not replaced promptly. The hot breakfast was nothing but disappointing, the bagels were stale, no bread rolls, only sliced pan for toast. One of the mornings we were in a rush to go to a tour and we were told to wait before we could go in to get breakfast. The waiter didn't even look at us or apologised. While most staff is lovely, there are a few who are simply rude and their posture does not align one you would expect at a 4* hotel. The AC in the room was noisy and stopped working for long periods, we seemed to have no control of it. The starting and stopping during the night kept waking us.And finally the bed was terrible, it was like sleeping on a trampolin where every movement was translated to the other person. In summary this should not be classed as a 4*star hotel, it is poor value for money, do not stay here!

Good and convenient.

Liked: The area was calm and quiet. Easy access to buses, restaurants, and supermarkets. Walkable distance to the train station.
Disliked: The air conditioning controller was deactivated, and I have to call the reception every time to turn it ON or adjust the temperature.
