The Spotlight on Mercure Edinburgh City - Princes Street Hotel

Classic Comfort in the Heart of Edinburgh

Modern yet traditionally Scottish, Mercure Edinburgh City – Princes Street Hotel boasts an unbeatable location right on iconic Princes Street. With sweeping views of Edinburgh Castle and steps from the Scott Monument and National Gallery, this hotel offers a warm welcome and a front-row seat to the city’s historic charm. Whether you're catching a show or soaking up the scenery, the stylish rooms and friendly service make it a standout base for your visit.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a short walk from Edinburgh's top venues and nightlife, including theaters along the Royal Mile. After the show, enjoy a leisurely stroll back through buzzing streets or hop on late-night public transport nearby. Need a late bite or lie-in? This hotel has you covered with 24-hour room service and a relaxed check-out time of 11:00. Plus, rooms facing the back offer a quieter retreat for post-show recovery.

Who this Hotel is great for

• Groups of friends looking for a central crash pad
• Solo travelers catching a legendary gig
• Couples planning a romantic concert weekend
• Fans who want a quieter space after the encore
• Budget-conscious music lovers who want location without the luxury price tag

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s restaurant offers stunning views over Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle—perfect for a pre-show bite or post-show wind-down. 24/7 room service means you’ll never go hungry, even after a late encore. While there’s no on-site bar scene, you’re within walking distance of countless pubs, restaurants, and cafés. Breakfast is available and ideal for late risers recovering from a big night out.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself keeps things low-key, you’re steps away from Edinburgh’s buzzing nightlife. From live music pubs to cozy whisky lounges along the Royal Mile and beyond, there’s no shortage of options. Whether you want to keep the party going or just grab a quiet nightcap, you’re in the right place.

What People Say

Guests love the central location, with many raving about the castle views from their rooms. The staff earns praise for being helpful and friendly, and visitors consistently mention the clean, comfortable rooms. The proximity to shops, attractions, and public transport is a major plus, especially for those attending events.

Areas for Improvement

While the location is a highlight, the rooms facing Princes Street can get a bit noisy—light sleepers may want to request a quieter room at the back. Some guests mention that the decor feels a bit dated in places, but most find it clean and comfortable enough for a short stay.

The Bottom Line

Mercure Edinburgh City – Princes Street Hotel is a central, scenic, and convenient spot for concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort or charm.

Liked: Location and restaurant
Disliked: We didn't like the room. Overlooking an inner courtyard where there were noisy fans. I think the price-quality ratio leaves something to be desired.
