Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel & Spa

Stayed for one night and enjoyed the stay very much. The buffet breakfast was fantastic and my husband and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Good stay

Liked: Location is good, close to centre. Breakfast was ok, standard of what you would expect. Our room was located on the 14th floor which gave us a nice view of the city. Staff took notice of my request to have upper story room and accommodated my request, which was nice. Room was spacious with comfortable bed. Desk located in the inner corner of the building which gave a nice feel and view. Furniture was adequate, maybe a bit old style. Receptionist (male, Welsh) was polite and keen to help with suggestions of the main attractions.
Disliked: Parking was expensive. I’ve used the NCP ( very close by) which was £14.95 for 24h when you use the app compared to the hotel £21 per night (not 24 hours). Throughout the hotel (room, hallways) the carpet has a specific smell, not bad but not pleasant either. The windows do need a clean on the exterior.

Liked: Excellent location and facilities. Easy to find and access. Benefit of nice secure parking. Very comfortable rooms and fantastic views. Enjoyed our suite (as did the dog). Very welcoming. Great food. Refreshment voucher issued as courtesy for delayed check in.
Disliked: Some of the bar pricing was excessive. Wine which I could buy in Tesco for circa £8/bottle sold for £14/glass.Check-in delayed.As a dog owner- unfortunately no green space in the immediate locus.
