Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel & Spa

Stayed for one night and enjoyed the stay very much. The buffet breakfast was fantastic and my husband and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Liked: Love this hotel and location. Stayed here many times. Can’t believe they have started charging for the swimming pool though. Takes the shine off a good experience, when paying good money for the hotel stay. Will probably go elsewhere next time

Exceptional

Receptionist man lied.

Disliked: Its has changed hands to Sunday and the staff were not as a accommodating as before when Mercure, Especially one male individual when I asked to add one more night the price was near double of the first night, he also lied to me to justify the price saying there was a rugby match on, but that was not until the weekend. I finally rebooked the same hotel via this apps where the experience and price was way better than speaking to a live person at reception.

Great stay but it’s really...

Liked: Central location with big rooms and very clean
Disliked: We had trouble finding the place need to state it is a Mercure as then can see signs.

Poor

Liked: The beds were comfy and it was lovely and clean inside.
Disliked: We were told check in was at 3. We arrived at 2.30 to be told we needed to come back in half hour which is reasonable. However, when we returned we were told the rooms still weren't ready and we needed to wait another 1/2 hour to an hour. I explained this wasn't possible as we hired the rooms as somewhere to stay after my hen do and had no idea what time we would return to which staff were no help just kept saying it isn't ready. When we returned the room keys were ready but one of them didn't work so we had to go back downstairs to sort late at night. The rooms were noisy and the heating in mine didn't work so was freezing.the car park was tiny and very difficult to park in dissapointing for the money and not pleased we effectively paid for a room we had less time in as it wasn't ready for checking with nothing offered.

Overall very good but improvements...

Liked: Excellent quality and decor. Bedrooms were very comfortable and excellent location.
Disliked: The staff were quite rude at reception and weren’t helpful and also paying for the use of the pool on top when we weren’t told wasn’t the best. Also the steam room wasn’t working. Disappointing

Disliked: When we arrived we got to a room with no air con and it was very uncomfortable we did then Change rooms but it wasn’t that great, a wedding was on which we wasn’t informed if we had known we probably wouldn’t of stayed as music was playing till 3/4am and fire works were let off gone 12pm it wasn’t a break as expected
