Canberra's First Hotel

Liked: Room was good and the staff very helpful and friendly. We had a plumbing issue and this was attended to and fixed within minutes of reporting. The courtyard and garden is a lovely resting spot.
Disliked: We chose this hotel knowing it had an on-site restaurant however the meals could have been of better standard considering the pricing. The hotel is isolated for travellers from any close shopping centre and alternate restaurants within walking area. Rest rooms for visitors not booked in as guests are only in the bar region. When this is closed it limits facilities for those needing a rest room, such as at the breakfast room or in our case when our room had plumbing issues.

Liked: The Bed
Disliked: It is a bit dated. Position of toilet ( not much room) Staff not overly friendly. I booked with this app and missed the fine print that you need to pay $15.00 extra for parking. I was a bit taken back at reception and I was a bit condescending to staff member as I was in shock. I ended up not having to pay. Checked the fine print later. It’s under policy’s as is with their website also. The fire alarm went off in the morning and we had to evacuate. Thought a follow up email or text would have been nice from staff at the Mercure

Liked: The room was average. The staff were friendly and room service was good. The buffet breakfast was good, too.
Disliked: Theres no free parking, They charge $15 for parking per day. The standard rooms don't have any Wifi. TV doesn't have any good channels. Without wifi, you cannot cast anything to the tv, nor you can attach chrome or Amazon firestick to the tv. If you want to watch any movie, you have to pay $34 separately, which is very weird. For any late checkout, you have to pay $20 extra, even for 30 mins. Never had these experiences anywhere else.
