The Spotlight on Mercure Bunbury Sanctuary Golf Resort

Resort-Style Comfort Just Minutes from Bunbury's Live Music Scene

Modern yet laid-back, Mercure Bunbury Sanctuary Golf Resort offers a scenic retreat surrounded by gardens, lakes, and native birdlife in Pelican Point. Just off Forrest Highway and about 2 hours south of Perth, this peaceful resort is a great base for concert-goers looking to unwind in comfort after the show. Featuring semi self-contained apartments with kitchenettes and private patios or balconies overlooking the golf course, pool, or gardens, it’s a relaxing spot that doesn’t sacrifice convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

This resort offers a quieter alternative to city hotels, while still being just a short drive from Bunbury’s live music venues. The peaceful setting is perfect for relaxing after a show, and with flexible apartment-style layouts, it’s great for groups or longer stays. While public transport is limited, driving or rideshares are easy options. The tranquil surroundings mean you won’t be disturbed by late-night noise—unless it's your own party.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends who want a bit more space and shared living areas
- Solo travelers looking for a peaceful, secure environment
- Couples making a weekend getaway out of a concert trip
- Fans who want a relaxing recovery day by the pool or on the balcony
- Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate value and self-catering options

Food and Drink Options

The resort’s Vittoria’s Restaurant serves up tasty meals with a strong focus on local wines from the South West region. While 24/7 room service isn’t available, the on-site dining covers most needs and the apartments let you whip up something light if you're back late. Breakfast is available, perfect for sleeping in after a night out. For more variety, Bunbury’s eateries are just a short drive away.

Nightlife Options

While the resort itself doesn’t offer live music or late-night bars, Bunbury’s entertainment district—with pubs, lounges, and live music spots—is close by. After the show, head back to the resort for a nightcap on your private balcony or stroll through the peaceful grounds under the stars. For those who want to keep the night going, local bars are easily reachable by car or rideshare.

What People Say

Guests love the beautiful, quiet setting, spacious apartments, and friendly service. Many mention the well-maintained golf course and relaxing atmosphere. It's often described as a great base for exploring Bunbury and the Geographe Wine Region. Concert-goers praise the ability to unwind in a calm environment after a big night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the resort is a bit outside the city center, so having a car is helpful. The Wi-Fi can be spotty in certain areas, and the 10:00 AM check-out might feel early after a late night—but that’s nothing a good breakfast and a strong coffee can’t fix.

The Bottom Line

If you’re chasing live music in Bunbury but want a peaceful, resort-style stay to recharge, Mercure Bunbury Sanctuary Golf Resort hits the right note.

We didn’t feel the stay...

Liked: * Close to Bunbury* Spacious unit* The view from the balcony * The bed was comfortable * Parking right outside unit
Disliked: The unit was tired looking and needed some work done to it: * the shower cubicle had mould.* the shower curtain didn’t stop water running on floor.* toilet seats were worn out - rough looking/scratchy. The breakfast was very disappointing - it tasted/looked like it had been cooked, stored and reheated.

Good location, low standard for...

Liked: Location was good, golf course was good.
Disliked: I submitted this email to the management after a very poor experience. Have had no response and really would be expecting some form of a refund due to the poor standards of our room which was unacceptable.*Upon arriving, distinct smell of cigarettes through the room (to the point we had to keep the windows and doors open when we were there and air our the room). * Cigarette butt found squished/held in extendable mirror (butt pictured being thrown in the bin).* Piece of wire found behind the chair under the stairs (believe this was cleaned out after we called to discuss the first time).* Mirror in main bedroom had smears across it (looked as though it had been attempted to be cleaned).* Floor wasn’t vacuumed well.* Cigarette butts throughout garden bed infront of room (and marks at front door where cigarettes were put out).* Women’s top, uno card, earring & woman’s photo found in children’s room. There is also a dirty ear cleaner under the bed closest to the window, I didn’t want to pick that up as we found this when we were leaving.* Food on the walls in the living area.

Not worth it. Very average

Liked: Not much. Bed was ok
Disliked: Room was tired. No undercover walkways to carpark. Restuarant menu very uninviting. Tapwater was vile and smelt. No bottled water provided. Tv was dodgy. Nothing in room just the absolute bare essentials. Soap dispenser in shower annoying. Too close to water stream so soap washed off hands before making it to body.
