The staff were absolutely wonderful...

Liked: I loved coming back here with my daughter, I had worked at the hotel around 25 years ago and the staff were so very welcoming and showed us around. It is dated but it has charm and is much more homely and interesting than the modern chain hotels that are mostly on offer these days.

Slightly disappointing

Liked: Pleasant surroundings, most staff ok. Decor. Convenient location. Comfortable bed. Restaurant had reasonable dinner choices.
Disliked: No lift. Acceptable staff at booking in. No heating on in room on arrival & window open- cold temperature. Not everything available on dinner menu. Red wine served chilled, should be room temperature. Cooked breakfast too dry, probably left out too long.

Superb

Liked: The room was clean and tidy, a non slip shower mat would have been good as when showering bath was a bit slippery.Tea and coffee facilities were okay. The breakfast was very good on the Sunday morning a good selection to choose from.
Disliked: Bar prices a bit high.

Friendly staff, lovely surroundings, but...

Liked: The room was clean and tidy, if a little "tired"The bathroom was clean and the ambiance very good.Staff were engaging and polite.
Disliked: There was no soap in the shower dispenser and the woodwork was coming away near the toilet. The breakfast was cold and as such inedible. The walk to the parking area to and from the hotel reception was slippery and needed jet washing.

okay but disapointing, Feels like...

Liked: Food was good, Appearance from outside was wonderful
Disliked: Room was very tired, The Windows were stuck open as frames were rotten (rm 501). so had to have heating on full which was then too hot with a cold breeze coming and musci from the Party that was happening could not be shut out. So a poor nights sleep. Net curtains were torn. Service wasnt great in DIning Room as (i suspect) understaffed. Young man was charming although running about with too much to do.
