Food and Drink Options

The hotel offers breakfast options that work even after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, its central location means you’re just steps from Bristol’s best bars, lounges, and music venues. Whether you're after a craft cocktail or a post-show pint, it's all close by. Keepers Bar is a relaxed spot to unwind with a drink before heading out.

What People Say

Reviews highlight the hotel’s artsy decor, friendly staff, and unbeatable location. Many concert-goers praise how easy it is to walk to gigs or hop in a cab back after. The comfortable beds and quiet rooms also get regular shout-outs—ideal for recharging after a night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the hotel’s historic nature means rooms can vary in size and that the building’s age shows in places. A few reviewers noted that check-in can be a bit slow during busy periods—but once you're settled, most find it worth the wait.

My partner and I were quite surprised by this hotel. It was quite posh! However, there was a diverse clientele which was good to see. We really enjoyed our stay. We had a standard double room - the bed was comfy, the room clean, bath towels/toiletries were supplied and clean towels everyday! There was a kettle and different coffees/tea available which was extra handy. You just have to search the drawers for them. :) There were extra pillows and a half decent TV for those chill out moments relaxing. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel - we thought it seemed a little expensive, but we didn't see portions or anything so can't really comment, except that they were busy at breakfast! The staff were very nice and helpful. There is a bar underneath the hotel called Marlows which was an excellent place to have a quiet drink. We went to a gig on the Saturday night and didn't really fancy the busy clubs - Marlows was perfect for an evening drink. Lovely seating and atmosphere to the place. This hotel was great and although it's a tiny bit pricey, I would use this hotel again. Sometimes, money doesn't matter if you're looking for a good time. My partner and I had an excellent stay - the place was easy to find, and so close to town. Would definitely recommend!

Liked: Very central; easy access to town centre, O2 Academy etc.

Attractive building, centre of hot...

Liked: Great central location, interesting decor with varied artworks, spacious room, good bed, good shower. Car park next door. Comfy sofas & nice chilled music in bar & reception. Love the pancake machine at buffet breakfast & good choice of other food.
Disliked: Couldn’t open window, hot at night, aircon wouldn’t switch on. But there was a fan. Feeble squash drink at breakfast, no real juice.

All of these things I...

Liked: The location of the hotelThe breakfast buffet was goodThe staff were very polite
Disliked: The lamp in our room was loose and barely hanging on the wall. The floorboards squeaked a lot. The shower dripped loudly in the middle of the night. The single glazed windows didn’t keep out any noise from the street. The wall USB ports flickered and didn’t charge consistently. The fixtures on the walls and the paintwork did not look to be in good condition. I don’t think the fridge worked but if it did it was set to a high temperature. One of the elevators was very disconcerting and saying it was in emergency mode. The magnetic door openers in the first floor hallway were buzzing loudly.

Mercure Bristol - June 25

Liked: The location is brilliant, right in the middle of Bristol. The staff are really friendly and happy to help. The car parking is a great little addition and reasonably priced compared to other options. The room was quiet and comfortable, the air con did work contrary to a lot of other reviews.
Disliked: The room looks dated, the carpets were dirty in places, paint coming off the walls and the coffee machine had mould in so I couldn't use it. We stayed in one down from a suite and it didn't really feel like it.
