My partner and I were quite surprised by this hotel. It was quite posh! However, there was a diverse clientele which was good to see. We really enjoyed our stay. We had a standard double room - the bed was comfy, the room clean, bath towels/toiletries were supplied and clean towels everyday! There was a kettle and different coffees/tea available which was extra handy. You just have to search the drawers for them. :) There were extra pillows and a half decent TV for those chill out moments relaxing. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel - we thought it seemed a little expensive, but we didn't see portions or anything so can't really comment, except that they were busy at breakfast! The staff were very nice and helpful. There is a bar underneath the hotel called Marlows which was an excellent place to have a quiet drink. We went to a gig on the Saturday night and didn't really fancy the busy clubs - Marlows was perfect for an evening drink. Lovely seating and atmosphere to the place. This hotel was great and although it's a tiny bit pricey, I would use this hotel again. Sometimes, money doesn't matter if you're looking for a good time. My partner and I had an excellent stay - the place was easy to find, and so close to town. Would definitely recommend!

Liked: Very central; easy access to town centre, O2 Academy etc.

Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: The staff were very helpful The breakfast was good and i was able to have vegetarian sausages which i was pleased about.
Disliked: Unfortunately my room the first night (5th) was VERY noisy as i was directly above the ballroom where a party with very loud music was taking place until after 1am. I asked to change rooms which was not a problem to the staff who were very helpful.my room for the 6th / 7th was not affected by the party noise but there was a lot of noise from the street where the partygoers were congregated. The 3 (!) poor nights sleep that i got will affect my decision to stay at the grand again.

Not bad but a little...

Liked: Central location. Friendly, professional staff.
Disliked: Property needs a refresh in May ways, just feels a bit ‘tired’. Elevators had unpleasant smell. Corridor carpets felt like they needed a good clean. In summary it was tired and in need of a refresh. For the money I was underwhelmed. Breakfast was expensive for what was on offer.

Bad

Disliked: There was a function going on underneath our room all night. The noise was ridiculou!, We weren't able to sleep which led to us checking out at 12:30 am.

Don’t bother staying here &...

Liked: Location but nothing else
Disliked: Arrived late evening & was getting ready for a Christmas works party!! I needed to iron a shirt The supplied ironing board had a cover that had no padding & wasn’t fitted & had no pull strings to tighten it up & just kept falling off, The steam iron didn’t work, so went out with creases in my shirt, Woke up at 8am & filled the coffee machine with fresh water put in a coffee pod switched on & hey Ho water leaking everywhere, So I thought ok I’ll have instant coffee instead, but the only choice was decaf coffee so skipped that & decided to check out & speak to management about my awful stay, The girl in reception couldn’t give too hoots & all she said was you can email the manager about it WTF I told her the last time I had a drink was the night before, Didn’t even offer me coffee when breakfast was being served in the dining room

Terrible customer service

Liked: It would have been a good experience if they hadn't stolen money from me. I understand that mistakes happen, but the way they have dealt with their mistake is far from good.
Disliked: I paid in full and then had to pay a deposit. I was told the deposit would be returned to my card at check out. Although we left the rooms in a good state, £103 was taken from my card the following day with no explanation and without my authorisation. I've now spent two days, four phone calls, and two emails trying to get this resolved. I'm still yet to receive a call back, an explanation, or have my money returned.I'm now left very disappointed with the lack of customer service and £130 lighter than I should be in the pocket.
