Unbelievable
Liked: The stunning grounds. The beautiful room & the food was very nice.
Disliked: Unfortunately the bar staff were very inexperienced. We asked about a cocktail & were told they don't do them. The bar man got nervous. I then looked at the selection behind the bar & questioned it again. I asked for a espresso martini & he said I would be charged for each individual drink, so it would be very expensive! There is massive room for improvement. The glasses on show in the bar were dirty, dead flies on the window sills on the way to the snooker room. That's what I just noticed glancing about!

Liked: Breakfast was cold. See below Cappuccino in halfway house was lukewarm
Disliked: No hot water on third night !!A few hairs in bath on arrival Staff in Clubhouse did not bring cutlery with food Breakfast cold. Toast too pale and floppy !No straws Felt a bit rushed after ordering food in evening However the experience was worth the inconvenience of junior staff members

Liked: Water in the room, was fairly clean. Electric charging point.
Disliked: After a 5 hour drive, I had to wait at the gate to be let in, no one did so waited there until someone else came through it. Drove up to reception to be told I wasn't booked in and they have no record of me coming (had booked and pre paid already). I showed them the personalized messages that I was sent the day before from the receptionist standing in front of me and then they blamed it on booking.com, and I am still without a room. There were multiple people still to check in but me, standing there in front of them, was clearly less important than these guests. The manager finally 'found' me a room by asking a favour of another guest with a spare room. But don't worry, he offered him a nice dinner as a thank you... Why when I was stood at a hot reception, missed an online meeting and had to fight for my right to a room for the evening did I not get offered dinner? I was made out to feel like I should feel grateful for this 'favour'. The instructions and signposts to get to the accommodation was confusing. Was lost in the grounds. The room was fairly clean but needs updating. Lighting was depressing and there were spiders everywhere. The bed had an ill fitting mattress topper than sloped in the middle and the zipper was facing upwards. Very uncomfortable. The curtain track did not close all the way. Had to put pillows to wedge the curtains shut but still light crept in at 4 and I was wide awake from 5pm. Oh and the water was off. I think there was a switch in the bathroom but this was far too high up to reach. Cold shower it was. All in all, bad experience. Will not be back for many reasons.
