Dirty dirty dirty!

Disliked: We had booked 2 rooms for a family of 6. One was made, however there were no toothbrushes and the blanket smelt revolting.The second room had a dirty, used disposable coffee cup on the bedside table, a half drank water bottle, a squashed pillow, finger prints on a mirror, half the pillows in the cupboard. When I pulled aside the covers the bed was filled with body hair remnants. bed. Clearly the bed had been “made” without changing the sheets. Absolutely disgusting.I asked for the room to be changed.The next room had no slippers, 3 of the pillows smelt stale and there was a blood stain on the doona that could be seen through the sheet.This has to be the most revolting hotel I’ve stayed at in a long time. Stay away!

Liked: The building itself. Location central, Decor nice although showing signs of wear and tear
Disliked: Although staff are friendly and seem engaged they are somewhat preoccupied On arrival spoke the the guy about changing our booking at Hennesys twice, he forgot! Then on leaving asked the girl for a taxi she said no problem and would let us know when it arrived, sat in the foyer for ages then I approached her, the taxi had been waiting outside for a while, she forgot!!!Attention to detail regarding cleaning and stains carpet in hallway stained wouldn’t take much to spot clean a good hovering was also needed marks on walls a lot would come off with stain remover!

Liked: Comfortable bed and nice bathroom
Disliked: We went to the Mayfair on a recommendation to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. we could not have felt LESS special despite paying $400 PER NIGHT for the accommodation. There was zero attempt to do anything extra and the hotel fell well short of what I would anticipate for guests specifically there for a milestone event. Even the standard mini bar included in the price was awful with a cider and a beer and a tiny kit kat as the offering. I asked reception twice if this was the standard or would they provide wine instead of the other offering, but nothing was done. The area immediately around the hotel felt unsafe and dirty. Not a great experience at all. In future we will stick to proper 5 star chains.
