Very disappointed with the balcony...

Liked: The food was very nice, staff were polite.
Disliked: We booked a balcony room for a special birthday. The room was advertised with a bath and shower, there was no bath. The balcony was advertised with a church and garden view. There was a view to the side of a church, the rest overlooked building works. The builders woke us with loud voices and machinery operating at 7:30am. Staff said they were authorised to start work at 8am, but even then for a 5 star hotel and paying for a premium room this to me is not acceptable.Additionally the hot and cold was around the wrong way in the bathroom sink and it struggled to drain away.We had no tv reception at all on the evening and finally if this isn’t enough we had a dog barking and howling in distress in the room next door. Even when calmed down it was still fussing in the room constantly.We complained to staff about the dog and then spoke to staff about our stay at check out. We didn’t want to spend our whole stay waisting our limited time there sorting out complaints.We were given £100 back on the £330 room but in all honesty if we had been told about the building works prior, we wouldn’t have stayed there.We came away very disappointed.

Liked: Beautiful building, staff very attentive & made a good first impression. Food & drink excellent. Was given a welcome drink which was a nice touch.
Disliked: We should have had a bottle of champagne in with our booking but it never materialised. The Spa was a bit grubby I.e. the floor and doors of the sauna. Our bedroom was very hot.

Treat like royalty

Liked: 1 night stay for my partners 60th. First time. Really nice to be treat like royalty.
Disliked: Before checking out I thought I'd do a Four in a Bed and was disappointed to run my fingers over high flat surfaces (pelmet, picture frame etc)and found lots of dust

A very relaxing, enjoyable stay.

Liked: I liked everything - the selection of restaurants, excellent food, delightful staff and lovely decor. It is situated near Corbridge - a small market town with a good selection of individual shops and cafes.
Disliked: I liked everything.

Loved it here but spa...

Liked: The staff were absolutely fantastic. So lovely and polite, nothing was too much to ask. Very warm and welcoming. The establishment itself is breathtaking, in a beautiful scenic place. We loved it.
Disliked: The spa really let it down. It is one of the worst spas we have ever been too. It didn't match the standards to the rest of the hotel.
