Superb stay in a beautiful...

Liked: Fantastic stay at Masons! What a wonderful pub, and the room/facilities were absolutely great. Superbly comfortable nights stay, and the beer/burger was outstanding! Thanks also to the staff for going above and beyond, and making me a packed lunch for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks chalenge I was completing on day of checkout. So very kind!

Ok for an overnight in...

Liked: Breakfast was very good and staff were friendly and very helpful
Disliked: Evening meal was disappointing. The twice cooked pork belly was only cooked once and the skin was the consistency of slime; the vegetarian shepherds pie was a sad affair as it consisted of potatoes, carrots in a tomato sauce served with carrots and chips! The room was too small for 2 people with 2 suitcases and very noisy but I guess we should have expected that as it was above a pub.

Great, comfy and uncomplicated

Liked: Great location as my son and I walked Yorkshire Three Peaks - start was just down the road. Rooms were small but comfy, warm and clean. Staff were super friendly and meals were great value.
Disliked: Pillows were a little hard - just a small thing!

Acceptable, would stay again.

Liked: Location good for us. Evening meal was very good and good value for money. Left before breakfast.
Disliked: Room and bathroom very small but ok for one night. Sounded like there was a band practising in a nearby room. Drumming and base went on until 10.40pm which is a bit late when you have an early start next day.

Nice pub. Landlord and staff...

Liked: The room was comfortable and did the job nicely
Disliked: The pub is located by the busy road so you can hear the traffic. I don’t mind that too much but a light sleeper may struggle.

Enjoyable stay however it was...

Liked: The room was clean and the location was handy for near to my brother and the views lovely.
Disliked: The room was very small and noisy on the main road. The fire alarm went off during the night which was a false alarm as the landlord had burnt toast. The breakfast the next morning seemed to have been cooked the night before the sausages were hard and the toast was all burnt. No juice or finesse. The landlord told us they had only started working there two weeks previous, and the company had told them to use everything up from the freezer before sourcing new food items. I felt as though the breakfast was definitely from freezer been there ages, also not freshly cooked. The landlord was pleasent but kept nipping outside for a cigarette or to sort his dogs out. The food and drinks were very expensive for what we got. £6 for a pint is very expensive!

Good accommodation, bad decision by...

Liked: The room although small had everything you needed and good quality bedding linen etc.
Disliked: The fire alarm going off at 00:30 in the morning caused by someone smoking weed in one of the rooms. We were greeted by a fully clothed member of staff on the landing who was trying to silence the alarm, telling us all was ok. We assume he had set it off otherwise how would he have known so quickly there was nothing to worry about. He gave my friend a complimentary latte the last morning of our stay but we now regret not mentioning it at check out. Although we’d just done the Yorkshire 3 Peaks the day before so didn’t have the energy to raise it.
