Liked: Beautiful period mansion with many original or replicated features
Disliked: The gravel surrounding the property made moving suitcases heavy work but to be fair it was possible to load and unload at the front entrance

Peaceful location near to sea.

Liked: Nice location with a gap in the car park wall which takes you down to the cliff top walk. Weather was surprisingly hot during our stay so it was lovely to sit on the comfortable garden sofas enjoying a cold drink in the sunshine. Beautiful historic manor house set in lawned garden. Nicey decorated bedrooms and public areas, which reflected the age of tge building, but with modern touches. Breakfast was lovely,
Disliked: Being hot in the bedroom, we were thankful that a standard fan was available and we managed to open the window a little. Still very stuffy though so i would bring a bedside fan with you if visiting in the summer.We ate in the restaurant on the first night of our stay. This is just a personal opinion as i am short at 5'3". ...but i found the soft leather chairs in the upstairs restaurant room to be too low for me to sit comfortably at the table and whilst they were comfortable chairs to lounge back in this was not ideal for me to be able to sit up straight for dining. We ate breakfast on the lower level in the morning where there were more traditional wooden chairs. Again, a personal opinion. We found the beds and pillows to be on the firm side...but it would not stop us from staying in this lovely hotel if ever we were in the area in future.

Convenient pit stop or touring...

Liked: Great spot to stop off between England and Scotland. Just off A1. Lovely staff and good food.
