Disappointing stay in run down,...
Liked: Pretty building in good location. Bed was comfy.
Disliked: Our room was very small, not what we expected from booking. Really tired, needed decorating and was quite dirty with cobwebs round windows and thick dirt round the bottom rim of the shower. It could have done with a fresh coat of paint and a deep clean. Sink plug mechanism was broken so unable to drain without taking plug out completely. Really disappointing stay. Skylight window was broken so frayed blind could not be shut properly. Extremely strong smell of drains constantly in room and also throughout the downstairs of the property, cleanliness and smell put us off staying for breakfast so we went out every day. Staff seemed to be teenagers who weren’t very helpful and a spent their time giggling together. Really disappointing stay in what we had expected to be a lovely hotel. This is not worth what we paid for it and we wouldn’t stay there again or recommend it. A different room may be nicer but you’ll not get away from the drain smell.

Liked: This is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. After an initial night of no sleep due to the heat (we arrived at the end of a heatwave), and a bit of panic on our part that the room might not cool down or get much air flow throughout our stay, the staff very promptly moved us to a ground floor room which was a lot cooler and had more natural airflow. From then, our stay was absolutely amazing, and the hotel staff from day 1 were always polite, attentive and responsive, even giving us an extra fan on the first night. The breakfast was always delicious and the general feel of the place is calm, quirky, and a delight to be in. It took us 10mins to walk to the Minster, so perfect really. Everything about the hotel is fantastic, and the staff are brilliant. We’ll definitely be coming back. 5/5 all round.
