Hope, Glen Carbon, visiting Peoria Civic Center Sun, 3 December 2023
The room was NASTY and stunk; the floors looked like a crime scene and I was afraid to take my shoes off due to being stained and dirty; when we booked the room it said it had a shuttle to and from the venue but it did not have one at all. Also it said it had a breakfast but it didn't have anything. The door to get in from the parking lot was broken; the gym was shut up and the restaurant was shut up for good. When we went to checkout the police were in the elevator.
Liked: Location to concert venue.
Disliked: Room stunk; was afraid to take off shoes due to the floors being nasty; advertised a shuttle to concert and a breakfast but had neither thing. Doors broken to get in from parking lot; the gym was shut up. The restaurant was shut off; when I went to checkout the police were in the elevator.

Came into town for a concert; hotel location perfect. Darlene, who ran the shuttle, is a real gem. Recommended a great place to eat; very helpful with other general information.
Liked: Room was nice and clean; staff friendly.
Disliked: Need breakfast to be served later than 9:00 am! Also, lighting was not great.

Nasty nasty nasty!
Liked: This place was nasty!
Disliked: Everything! When we first walked in it smelt of mildew and cat urine. The girl at the front desk had no idea what she was doing! We asked if us and our friends could all be together and she said that we couldn’t because they had no more king rooms available! We then proceeded to go to our room open the door and our bed looked like someone had been in it with a dirty hand towel on the bed, dirty towels all over the bathroom open bar soap in the sink and trash in the garbage can, the carpet was light colored with big brown stains all over it through out the whole room! Went back door to front desk she then gave a us a different room (on the same floor as our friends cause now one was available) used the key and couldn’t get in! Talked to our friends their room carpet was also a light color with stains all over also! At this point went down and told front desk that this was just not gonna work out and asked for a refund! She then proceeded to tell me that she doesn’t know how to do that she would have to call a manager, she talked to the manager who also called the house keeping manager and asked about the first room and the housekeeping manager said nope all rooms were clean so there would be no refund! So we did stay but given a different room again on the floor our friends were on in a king bed! That rooms carpets were darker but still with stains all over them! We couldn’t get our air conditioner to turn on at all so room was hot all night! Very disappointed in this place none of the pictures they share show the real side of this hotel!

Disappointed, given my prior experience...
Liked: Location. River view. Room was clean and adequate for our needs. The price was right.
Disliked: The Mark Twain has lost much of its luster. It was once regarded as a unique boutique hotel in Peoria, located close to the riverfront with a river view. The restaurant is closed. The hotel is again for sale. The staff is "bare bones," and the services are minimal. It desperately needs a new owner who could see the vision for its revitalization.
