Mark Twain Hotel

The room was NASTY and stunk; the floors looked like a crime scene and I was afraid to take my shoes off due to being stained and dirty; when we booked the room it said it had a shuttle to and from the venue but it did not have one at all. Also it said it had a breakfast but it didn't have anything. The door to get in from the parking lot was broken; the gym was shut up and the restaurant was shut up for good. When we went to checkout the police were in the elevator.

Liked: Location to concert venue.
Disliked: Room stunk; was afraid to take off shoes due to the floors being nasty; advertised a shuttle to concert and a breakfast but had neither thing. Doors broken to get in from parking lot; the gym was shut up. The restaurant was shut off; when I went to checkout the police were in the elevator.

Came into town for a concert; hotel location perfect. Darlene, who ran the shuttle, is a real gem. Recommended a great place to eat; very helpful with other general information.

Liked: Room was nice and clean; staff friendly.
Disliked: Need breakfast to be served later than 9:00 am! Also, lighting was not great.

Make sure they are open...

Classic bait and switch on...

Liked: Former reputation. Pleasant lobby. Great towels/linens. Nice room.
Disliked: When I arrived, they claimed they had no booking for me, even though I had a confirmation number from Booking.com. In fact, I had called the hotel itself to book originally, and they recommended I book through a third party for a better rate! No manager was available, and my only option was to book a room at a much higher rate!! As I was trying to work this out, 2 other couples came in and had the exact same experience, although one couple had even paid in advance. I was very disappointed and stayed only 2 nights instead of 3. I learned the hotel had recently been sold, and it felt like they were coasting on the old reputation and left over supplies and not even replacing things like conditioner and hand lotion in the rooms. There was no hair dryer. Felt like the classic bait and switch. Big parking lot, but in poor condition.
