Liked: Best thing about the property is its location very close to the Gaslamp and walking distance to numerous bars and restaurants If like ‘grain bowls’ the one in hotel bar was delicious Land Shark beer was very nice - always aim for Happy Hours in all bars / restaurants when in San DiegoVery attentive professional staff - shout out to Brett, Wiatt and Jayden. Manager dealt with noise complaint quickly and efficiently. Property was very clean and had a very nice vibe about it Lobby area was pristine and comfortable
Disliked: Our really only complaints were the size of the pool area, cost of cabana ($250 a day and never used so a waste of space for sunbeds) and the noise we experienced for 3 nights from other guests hence our score of 7 (would have been 9 otherwise) Noise was our main issue - noise from other drunken guests and cleaning staff talking loudly in mornings / shouting ‘housekeeping’ along corridors when most had a ‘chill’ do not disturb hanger on door. We appreciated the hotel cannot police all guests but they do state a 10pm noise zone. This was the reason we had to get a room change. Our initial room 908 was mid corridor and adjoining. Admittedly it was the weekend but we had multiple incidents of drunken guests including families shouting / talking loudly after 2am in morning. Post our room change after 3rd day we moved to room 503 which was a corner room and much quieter If booking I’d aim to request a corner room to avoid some of the noise issues. It’s a pity because otherwise was an excellent hotel with great staff in a prime location.
