The Spotlight on Mansewood Country House

Scenic Country Escape Near Scotland's Music Routes

Modern comfort meets historic charm at Mansewood Country House, a 300-year-old, family-run guesthouse nestled in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Located just outside Lochearnhead and overlooking the serene head of Loch Earn, this 4-star retreat offers cozy, individually decorated rooms with peaceful views, feather down quilts, and all the modern comforts—ideal for winding down after a big night out.

With free WiFi in public areas, an on-site bar, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Mansewood is a relaxing base for music lovers exploring Scotland’s west coast venues or heading to gigs in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or even Oban—all about an hour’s drive away.

Why Concert-goers love it

While it’s not right in a city center, Mansewood offers something many concert-goers crave: peace and quiet after the show. Just over an hour’s drive from major cities, it’s an ideal stopover for those following a tour or making a weekend out of a concert in the region. The flexible 4:00 PM check-in means you can arrive after a scenic drive, and the peaceful rural setting ensures you’ll sleep soundly—no city noise to interrupt your rest.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a scenic getaway after a gig
  • Solo travelers on a bucket-list concert trip
  • Couples combining a concert with a romantic rural escape
  • Fans needing a quiet spot to recharge post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value in a beautiful setting

Food and Drink Options

Start your day right with a hearty breakfast served in a bright room overlooking the garden—perfect after a late night. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hotel does have its own on-site bar for a relaxed evening drink, and nearby Lochearnhead offers walkable dining options for dinner or snacks.

Nightlife Options

Mansewood is more about peaceful nights under the stars than late-night clubbing. That said, you can enjoy a quiet drink at the hotel’s bar, or take a short drive to nearby villages for traditional pubs with local music on weekends. For bigger nights out, plan your trip around gigs in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Oban—all reachable by car in about an hour.

What People Say

Guests love the warm hospitality from the family-run team, the immaculate rooms with stunning views, and the relaxing, homey feel of the guesthouse. Many reviews mention the excellent breakfast and the peaceful location as standout features—especially for those looking to unwind after a high-energy concert.

Areas for Improvement

Due to its rural setting, the hotel isn’t ideal if you’re relying on public transport or looking to walk to a concert venue. And with no 24-hour front desk, late-night arrivals need to plan ahead. But if you're driving and want to escape the crowds, it's a small trade-off for the charm and calm.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to recharge in comfort and Scottish countryside charm, Mansewood Country House is a relaxing and scenic choice.

Friendly and helpful hosts

Liked: We had a lovely stay with Emily and James, they were very kind hosts and made us some great food. The house is a short strut from the loch which was well worth the short walk. A great stop on our way out west!

Outstanding

Liked: From the moment we arrived our stay at Mansewood was perfect. Emily, James and family have created a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing haven that is so enjoyable to be in. We felt welcome and well taken care of from the moment we arrived. Emily's suggestion about what we could do on our first day was spot on. The room was very comfortable and the food is delicious. Thanks again for accomodating the extra meal request from my daughter Hannah - she thought it was the most delicious meal ever. If I was planning our trip again we would stay longer!

Exceptional

Liked: A stunning 300 year old house run by a lovely, very attentive couple. They made us feel at home. The interior of the house is amazing, the bed was very comfortable- I had a very restorative sleep after a long day. We enjoyed the evening three course dinner with the best cranachan I've had. We also loved the bar and great scotch selection.

Traditional hospitality with a cool...

Liked: The beautifully appointed rooms and breakfast/dining area. The option to dine at the premises - really encourage guests to take advantage of this as the food was excellent quality and meant you could have a drink with your dinner. The personable and helpful owners James and Emily who struck a perfect balance between chill and highly professional. The outdoor spaces and games, and the woodland glade. Advice on local walks and a dreamy swimming spot at Loch Voil.
