Disappointing
Liked: It had a pretty garden that I could see, although I have no idea if I was allowed to go in it.p
Disliked: CHECKING IN - very confusing and passive-aggressive staffI booked a double room not knowing that it's on a per person basis at this "Hotel", i.e., you need to pay more to stay in the same double room with a partner than you would if you're alone. I thought i was booking a double room. It is an unusual policy for a hotel and I think this puts manor park in the BnB category. There's no reason to pay more other than that's what their policy demands. I've never encountered this in a hotel and I travel a lot, so i hadn't expected this to be the case and was totally oblivious when checking in.. I normally pay for a room and that's that. This seemed to irritate the mustache wearing staff member that was checking me and my partner in. He was very rude in his body language and by the way he dealt with the situation. It was frankly very passive-aggressive. I showed up with my partner on checking in, who would naturally be staying with me. He said it was a single occupancy room very passive aggressively without explaining that we just needed to pay an additional £60. I said ok but we are two people. Both myself and my partner genuinely thought he was telling us that they didn't allow two people in that room i.e., there was nothing we could do. He kept just saying "it doesn't work like that, its single occupancy" when I made it clear that I need a room for two people. I had to ask if we could just pay more money and the response was hesitant but proceeded with saying that "yes we could". I found the fact that I had to be the one to suggest that really odd. It felt like such an unnecessarily awkward and passive aggressive interaction. So two problems here (1) weird room policy (2) unprofessional and poor communicating staff member. The second was far worse.BREAKFAST - very poorSecond issue was the breakfast.. It's probably the most basic set of options I've ever encountered in a hotel.
