Disliked: Reception is run down and needs redecorating

Liked: Have stayed several times, always good value and excellent facilities and staff
Disliked: I called the hotel over 15 times in the space of 4 hours on the day of my arrival to try and make important changes to my booking. I tried all options (bookings, reception etc. ). Not once were my calls answered. Also left voice messages that were not replied to..I even called whilst in my car from the hotel car park, but no answer from two people on reception.When I notified staff of this on arrival, I was told they probably didn't answer the call because 'they had an event on' of which thete was little evidence.Very disappointed, as this is my go-to hotel when visiting Stortford or flying from Stansted. I was calling to upgrade my room and order champagne as a surprise for my partner's birthday which I was unable to do before we arrived.

Liked: Room, gym, steam room, swimming pool, aqua fit class.
Disliked: Jacuzzi was not working for both nights of our stay. Really disappointed

Liked: Room was comfortable Staff were lovely and friendly Location and grounds beautiful and peaceful
Disliked: Food menu very limited especially bar menu. Black mould and grout missing in bathroom making it look dirty. We used swimming pool and spa facilities but around the pool above water line was black mould. Windows around pool area dirty and you couldn’t see out very well. General decoration in pool and spa area tired and lots of paint peeling. Even tiles missing around inside of pool. When walking from pool to changing room it is absolutely freezing cold. Definitely put us off using again. Overall decoration looks tired
