We loved our stay! Not...

Liked: Wonderful birding on the grounds. The home-cooked pancake breakfast with bacon were excellent! All contacts with staff were great! We loved the history of the place. It is a wonderful property! Location could not have been better! Note that previous reviews about too many cats were from previous management. We hope the renovation and restoration efforts will be successful!

Beautiful historic house managed by...

Liked: The people managing the inn are really friendly and the chef prepares a great breakfast. The building is an old house with lots of charm and our room had a lot of character while also being very clean and having all the comforts. The backyard is gorgeous as well as the patio where you can have breakfat.Only the last day, we found out that there were beach chairs and towels available forthe guests for free.Great to visit Oahu by car: free parking, quiet neighborhood but still close to the highway.
Disliked: Minor dislikes:The breakfast was really tasty but not well organized (e.g., there were no plates for the buffet, the coffee machine ran out of water, I could not find napkins).Since we enjoyed leaving early in the morning (around 7:00), we would have appreciated an earlier breakfast or something to go. But I understand that this would be an extra in almost every hotel.

Expect unfriendly and overwhelmingly unprofessional...

Liked: It’s an atmospheric old building, it’s spacious and offers some great views.
Disliked: We were not ever stay here again. The place is like a small B&B with a couple of rooms. After getting ourselves noticed, we were received without a single word too much by an unfriendly guy who showed us our room. The breakfast is an absolute joke, especially in respect to the price per night. With luck, you’ll get a few slices of oranges and toast that you can enjoy on a dirty table together with a single pancake or another option like a single fried egg that are prepared on order. My request for a second pancake was turned down harshly by the same guy who received us on arrival. A few more slices of toast were granted. The pictures show the full variety of food in the middle of the breakfast time that we could choose from three different days. As promoted, the place is old and in some ways quaint, but in other ways, utterly cheap, some of our curtains were racks that were falling apart, but the bathroom was done recently, and looked nice.

Needs renovations

Liked: This historic inn has fallen on hard times. It has an new owner who is renovating, but it still has a long way to go. The staff are great.
Disliked: The rooms need painting, and repairs.

This was much better for...

Liked: Lisa and her sons took over ownership recently and are still working to bring it up to their standards. Lisa is determined and hardworking so we're convinced she will reach that goal. Anything we needed, Lisa or her sons provided. They were accessible whenever we needed them. The house has an interesting history as does the decor.
Disliked: Initially, we had a few issues with the room assigned to us but then Lisa found an excellent solution for us that we were happy with.

Passable

Liked: Adorable little girls greeted us at the front door, offering to help us with our luggage. This house is a formerly beautiful mansion, quietly mouldering away.
Disliked: We hope that the new owners can turn around the decay and fix the problems. Pink stuff growing in the shower floor, you have to unscrew the lightbulb to turn it off in the bathroom, paint and water damage
