Get what you pay for.

Liked: Staff was nice, was cheap for Manhattan, good access to food and public transit.
Disliked: The public restrooms were a little dingy and kinda unclean. For instance the shower curtains were moldy... The stack of towels felt unclean and were scratchy and stained. This was the biggest pain point for me.The sound insulation was poor in the rooms. I'm a heavy sleeper so it's a non-issue but I know for others it would be difficult. There was no temperature control in the room. Just a small fan, which did its job of being a fan, but wasn't like an Aircon or something of that ilk.The pillows were a little hard... And the blanket situation felt a little unclean too.The walls in the rooms looked unclean too.I don't mind the small space, or even the limited temperature control too much, I just wish everything was clean. It would make a world of difference. I would pay 20% more for a cleaner experience.

Liked: Loved the location and the extra lock for the door.
Disliked: Didn't like how small the room was. Barely enough rough to lie your suitcase on the floor. No windows. Quite loud with other people nearby.

Overall wasn’t a bad experience...

Liked: free coffee and the guy showed us how to work the shower properly
Disliked: the lack of space in the room

I got a Deluxe Queen...

Liked: Easy check-in, friendly staff, good enough space for 1 person.
Disliked: Not the cleanest place ever but it’s a hostel so I didn’t have high expectations

Disliked: The rooms are poorly ventilated and bathrooms should be distinguished between ladies and gents
