Mama Shelter London is a modern and trendy hotel located on Hackney Road, offering a lively atmosphere that's perfect for music fans. With stylish rooms, a buzzing bar, and a large restaurant, it’s a vibrant base just a short walk or bus ride from some of London’s most popular concert venues.
With Bethnal Green Tube Station just a 10-15 minute walk away and convenient bus routes right outside, getting to gigs across London is a breeze. The 24-hour reception and multilingual staff make late check-ins easy, and the lively bar is perfect for post-show unwinding. Thanks to good soundproofing, rooms stay relatively quiet even with all the action downstairs.
Late-night cravings are no problem here. The hotel restaurant offers a wide variety of homemade dishes, and you can grab cocktails and snacks at the veranda bar. Room service isn't 24/7, but options run late enough for most post-concert appetites. Plus, the breakfast buffet is perfect for a slow, late-morning start after a big night out.
Mama Shelter’s own bar often hosts live DJs and music events, creating a lively vibe without having to leave the hotel. If you’re looking to explore, the hotel's Hackney location puts you close to some of London's coolest bars, clubs, and lounges.
Guests love the quirky decor, friendly staff, and fun atmosphere. Many mention the great cocktails and the fact that the hotel feels like a destination in itself. The free WiFi and movies in the rooms are also big pluses for downtime between shows.
The lively vibe might not be for those seeking total peace and quiet. Some guests noted that the walk to the nearest Tube station can feel a bit long after a late night, but the bus stop right outside helps make up for it.
For concert-goers who want stylish digs, a buzzing vibe, and easy access to London's music scene, Mama Shelter London is a top pick.

John M, London, visiting York Hall London
Great location for the boxing at The York Hall. I actually met the boxer from the main event of that evening's show before the fight. The room was great - lovely and clean, with everything you could need for an overnight stay. The bed was 10/10 for comfort and one of the quietest hotels I've stayed in. Can't comment on the breakfast as I had to leave early in the morning, but this is a hotel I will definitely be coming back to. 10/10 all round.
Liked: Everything from the room to the staff and the bar area - a class hotel and a great location for a visit to the York Hall.
Disliked: Nothing at all.

It was absolutely fine and...
Liked: I liked the location and I thought the price was also fair.
Disliked: The room had spots on the wall and the bathroom smelled extremely damp. I had to leave the bin in front of the bathroom door so it wouldn't automatically close and so the damp smell could escape.

All very good apart from...
Liked: A warm welcome at reception, free upgrade to a medium room which was appreciated. The room itself was nice, the bed was v comfortable and plush. Breakfast was great value, one of the best buffets I've seen at a hotel!
Disliked: There was something wrong shower head in the bathroom, the water seemed to be flowing over the top of the shower head and dropping down, rather than cascading through the shower head, so showering was a bit awkward. There was also a very visible handprint, like a full palm print, on the mirror by the bed which was a bit disconcerting!
