The Spotlight on Malmaison London

Chic Comfort in the Heart of Clerkenwell

Modern, stylish and full of character, Malmaison London is a boutique hotel nestled in the trendy Clerkenwell neighborhood. Just a short walk from Barbican and Farringdon Tube stations, this fashionable spot blends edgy design with a laid-back vibe, perfect for music lovers looking to stay close to the action.
With sleek rooms, free WiFi, and a buzzing restaurant and bar scene nearby, it's a great base for exploring central London’s live music venues and nightlife.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key, and Malmaison London delivers. You're just a 5-minute walk from both Barbican and Farringdon stations, making late-night returns from concerts across the city a breeze. The hotel sits on a relatively quiet square, offering a peaceful retreat after a loud gig, yet you’re never far from the buzz. With a 3:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out, the schedule suits most concert plans—even if you’ve been up late.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish, central base
  • Solo travelers ticking off a must-see gig
  • Couples planning a music-filled weekend escape
  • Fans who want a quieter space to unwind post-show
  • Budget-conscious travelers wanting boutique vibes without the sky-high price

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Chez Mal Restaurant blends steakhouse classics with French brasserie flair—ideal for a pre-show meal or late-night bite. The hotel bar is known for its champagne cocktails and solid beer selection. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the surrounding Clerkenwell area is packed with walkable eateries, many open late. Breakfast is available and well-suited for anyone sleeping in after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself stays on the quieter side, you’re steps from some of East London’s best nightlife. From hipster cocktail bars to classic London pubs, there's something for every post-concert mood. And if you’re not done with live tunes, Barbican Centre is nearby with its own performance schedule.

What People Say

Guests love the modern decor and boutique feel, noting the rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. The location is consistently praised for its convenience to transport and nightlife. Many appreciate the quiet setting despite being so central, and the staff earn high marks for friendliness.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that rooms can be on the smaller side—typical for central London—and that weekend rates can spike during busy seasons. Also, while the vibe is upscale, don’t expect full luxury-hotel amenities like a spa or pool.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a stylish, well-located hotel with easy access to London’s top music venues, Malmaison London hits all the right notes.

Our Go-To Spot in the...

Liked: Malmaison London has become one of our favorite places to stay when we’re in the city. It strikes a great balance between style, comfort, and value. The rooms are modern, cozy, and thoughtfully designed—cute without trying too hard, and always comfortable. One of the things we love most is the location. The hotel sits on a quiet, leafy square with a little park in the middle, which gives it a calm, tucked-away feel despite being right in the heart of the city. It’s a short walk to great restaurants and bars in Farringdon and Clerkenwell, and it's just as easy to stroll into the City for work or sightseeing. There’s also a Tube stop nearby, so getting around London is a breeze. The hotel’s restaurant and bar are decent—great for a relaxed meal or drink before heading out—and the room service is reliable when you want a quiet night in.All in all, Malmaison London is stylish, well-located, and reasonably priced. It’s become a go-to for us, and we’re always happy to come back.
