Liked: Staff were lovely
Disliked: Very poor bathroom towels for this rate of hotel and bar area wasn’t very clean. You could hear people in all the rooms so noise was an issue.

Very disappointing

Liked: The location was good with good transport links to central Edinburgh
Disliked: This hotel should not be classified as four star. Staff were lovely but the hotel is very under staffed, both in the restaurant and on the domestic/cleaning side, seemingly. Our room smelt stale. The soft furnishings smelt dreadful. The decor is very down at heel. The bed sheets were clean but the bed was badly made and frankly the sheets did not fit the bed. The bottom sheet came untucked at the slightest movement. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room but the milk cartons were out of date. We had a very overpriced, underwhelming meal on our first night; the food was frankly bland. (To be fair the cost of this meal was taken off our bill at check out). Breakfast was similarly overpriced and disappointing. My husband’s order of kippers did not even get processed on the first morning. The “Full English” cooked to order came out with some items not just overcooked but burnt and others barely warm. On the continental buffet the toaster seemed only to deliver uncooked or burnt toast and pastries were unavailable. On out third morning the coffee machine broke down….. To add insult to injury when we booked we paid full price. On the day we arrived we checked the room rate and it had halved!!
