Highly recommended property - classic...

Liked: Maison Mouton is a beautiful property and welcomes guests from all over the world. From the gorgeous grounds to the delicious breakfast, you will love your stay. Thank you!
Disliked: The bathroom in the Bourbon Cabin could use some updating and lacked towel bars or hooks to hang things.

Horrible - avoid at all...

Liked: Nothing at all. Rude manager. Old uncomfortable beds. Dated accommodation. Never again!
Disliked: It has been poorly maintained. Flaking paint, tired decor and furnishings and antiquated electrics and air-con which was noisy and very old. There were broken tiles in the kitchen which was ill equipped and stains in the bath. We were greeted by a pleasant young man and woman but when I requested a vegetarian alternative for breakfast I was politely told there was none. When I requested additional egg and bread an older woman, who I assume was the manager, appeared and snapped that this was not possible. It felt like she equated being a vegetarian with a serial killer, given the attitude and rude stance she took towards us. In any event the breakfast was served cold and the coffee was disgusting. The property is located whereby walking into downtown Lafayette requires passing through a very threatening rough neighbourhood. This property is the worst I have stayed in the 40 years I have been travelling to the US. Appalling.

Whenever I visit Lafayette again,...

Liked: An unforgettable beautiful garden and rooms with a retro style. The staff will respond to all your needs in a professional and friendly manner. Before the other guests arrived, I requested to visit some of the other rooms upstairs in the main building. The hostess generously gave me a tour and enabled me to get a comprehensive understanding of the entire maison. The musicians who came to perform Cajun music also gave a high-level performance. I felt that during my few days in Lafayette, the accommodation here provided me with the best experience.
Disliked: Although there are window screens, there are still mosquitoes in the room from time to time. I would like to have some insect repellent products such as incense or Mosquito-killing lamps. The wiring of the lighting fixtures is a bit outdated. Sometimes the chandeliers don't light up, but they return to normal after a few hours.

Acceptable

Liked: Bed was very uncomfortable, shower head was messed up(we fixed it). Worried about fire hazard from the light above us. There was very loud music through the night from some celebration.
Disliked: See above

WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY FOR...

Liked: It appeared to be a very busy weekend, but all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Magnolia room was very spacious and had pretty much anything you could ask for. For someone with back issues, the bed was amazingly comfortable. The room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast far exceeding any expectations I would have had. The food and service were exceptional. I will absolutely be back again, and will bring my little dog with me next time. I highly recommend them if you are in the Lafayette area. Easy on and off the interstate is an added bonus!
