Lovely hotel with a heart...

Liked: It really has a beautiful interior - grand classical luxury with chandeliers etc. The staff was really nice. Loved that it was pet friendly with no fee! Dogs are very welcomed here, they have a water bowl out at check in desk and give tennis balls out when checking in, which was so awesome and such a funny (in a nice way) touch that I have never seen anywhere else. The owner and/or manager must love dogs, because in the lobby there were featured pictures of local adoptable dogs from a rescue - as someone who has been involved with animal shelters/rescues for many years, it warmed my heart. The lobby also has a really nice area with a pool table and other games. I didn't do the restaurant, but it looked nice and upscale from afar. This place is set apart from the other options like Hampton etc due to its historical landmark status. They also gave out milk and cookies at 8pm and the cookies were a tie-in to St Louis culinary tradition so that was a special touch (and they were really really delicious). I also appreciated that they had a back storage area where they could hold my bike (the elevators are a bit smaller than some other chains and I didn't want to leave it on car). The Arch is about a 15 minute walk from this hotel. Downtown St Louis seemed a bit sketch in some spots, but you could tell the city was doing what it could to make it as friendly to tourists as possible (I saw Safety ambassadors walking around, cameras on corners, etc).
Disliked: The valet parking is $55 (can come and go as you please), which is a lot in comparison to some other chains. There is a self parking garage nearby that is cheaper, but my understanding is that you can't come and go from that within the overnight price of $35. It has a low height clearance (6' 6"), which impacted me because I had a cargo bag on my SUV's roof. There is some metered street parking in area and a few other options, but I didn't want my car too far away. I got it worked out in the end due to a lucky spot, but just things to consider. Overall, would pick this place again in a heartbeat (just minus my cargo bag)

Stay was okay, cold water...

Liked: I like the location but did not care for room and bathroom shower and sink had issues.
Disliked: I did not like my room. I was hoping for the same style room that I previously had when I booked at Magnolia precise. Room was small.

Unnecessarily pricey

Liked: The staff was friendly, and they were blocks away from anything.
Disliked: The pictures made this place look top-notch. The floor in the gaming area looked like they had never seen a broom or vacuum. The trash and debris were clearly visible. While shooting pool, we watched the staff remove the trash bag but did nothing about the trash on the floor around it. One guest allowed his dog to urinate on the wall. I booked for a suite and was given a regular room. When booking, my total was $449 for my stay, but I was charged $567 and an additional $281. No one could seem to tell me what the charges are for. Thank God for my receipts and email confirmations. Hopefully, after my bank investigations, the money will be returned.

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

A comfortable bed is not...

Liked: The only things I liked were the beds, pillows, and decor of the lobby and restaurant.
Disliked: Literally everything else. I waited 55 minutes after calling the valet only to be told they lost the keys to the garage where our keys were held. I saw my car keys along with others just out in the open on the desk UNATTENDED. The hotel smelled like sewage, the elevators were terribly dirty, the staff was rude, my toilet had a fecal stain in it upon arrival. The list literally goes on. This was one of, if not the worst, hotel experience I have ever had. This hotel is incredibly overpriced.
