Pleasant
Disliked: We did not get to check in until almost 6pm. There was a large group of people that had been staying there a while and it took longer than normal to clean up after them.

Lovely hotel with a heart...
Liked: It really has a beautiful interior - grand classical luxury with chandeliers etc. The staff was really nice. Loved that it was pet friendly with no fee! Dogs are very welcomed here, they have a water bowl out at check in desk and give tennis balls out when checking in, which was so awesome and such a funny (in a nice way) touch that I have never seen anywhere else. The owner and/or manager must love dogs, because in the lobby there were featured pictures of local adoptable dogs from a rescue - as someone who has been involved with animal shelters/rescues for many years, it warmed my heart. The lobby also has a really nice area with a pool table and other games. I didn't do the restaurant, but it looked nice and upscale from afar. This place is set apart from the other options like Hampton etc due to its historical landmark status. They also gave out milk and cookies at 8pm and the cookies were a tie-in to St Louis culinary tradition so that was a special touch (and they were really really delicious). I also appreciated that they had a back storage area where they could hold my bike (the elevators are a bit smaller than some other chains and I didn't want to leave it on car). The Arch is about a 15 minute walk from this hotel. Downtown St Louis seemed a bit sketch in some spots, but you could tell the city was doing what it could to make it as friendly to tourists as possible (I saw Safety ambassadors walking around, cameras on corners, etc).
Disliked: The valet parking is $55 (can come and go as you please), which is a lot in comparison to some other chains. There is a self parking garage nearby that is cheaper, but my understanding is that you can't come and go from that within the overnight price of $35. It has a low height clearance (6' 6"), which impacted me because I had a cargo bag on my SUV's roof. There is some metered street parking in area and a few other options, but I didn't want my car too far away. I got it worked out in the end due to a lucky spot, but just things to consider. Overall, would pick this place again in a heartbeat (just minus my cargo bag)
