Would not stay again.

Liked: The hotel is in a calm neighborhood. (But there is an ongoing construction on the street where the hotel is.)
Disliked: The room was terrible. Even though hotel looks empty (I never met another guest during my stay) they gave me the room 101, which was at the basement floor. * There are two small windows close to the ceiling. The windows are at the street level, so that you can see people's feet outside. The room receiver too little sunshine. * The lights are broken in the bedroom. Only lights that were working were at the entrance of the room. * There is no air conditioning. There is a ceiling fan and a small desktop fan instead. * The room requires air conditioning. Even though both fans are working, the room was hot. * This is a standart 3-floor house, converted to a hotel. So that hotel commodities are missing. * There is no reception or lobby. If you need something late, you can't find anybody to ask. * The business also runs a pub in the next building. Reception is at the pub bar in that building. (which is also not the reception, but the bartender tries to handle your stay.)

Disappointing

Disliked: the room was in the basement, grimey, old, unmaintained, no natural light

Incompetent staff member. Noisy neighborhood,...

Liked: The price was right. They had an ice machine. The building was safe and secure. Fresh towels
Disliked: The manager that checked me in was not knowledgeable when I asked her about the parking situation around the hotel which directly resulted in me getting a parking ticket. I asked the manager if it was alright to park on the street in front of the hotel and they said it was a great idea and that the payable period only started at 8am and that I would save money that way instead of parking my vehicle behind the building in the parking lot overnight which would cost me more money (according to her). So, in reality, the opposite was true. The other manager the next day told me parking in the parking lot behind the building was free overnight and that only residents can park on the street overnight. I thus got a parking ticket. Also the Air conditioning vent blows directly on you while you sleep. The back alley behind the hotel was very noisy and was hard to sleep. There were earplugs included in the room (that's a red flag). There was no fridge in the room.

We only stayed one night....

Liked: The location was where we wanted to be. It was clean and the price was better then most places to stay in downtown Toronto. It’s an old hotel that makes you feel like you walked right into a hotel in the middle of Ireland somewhere.
Disliked: It wasn’t very clear where to check in. This is right next to a very big and popular student bar. We stayed on a Monday night so did not hear anything and maybe it is sound protected from the bar on other nights I can not say but something to keep in mind. I did hear big trucks which sounded like garbage trucks in the early hours around 6:00 am. Which were noisy. Other than that it was quiet. Lots of stairs to get to your room. It was good for one nights stay.

Pleasant

Liked: Subway close by, possible to reach Entertainment District with a Walk.
Disliked: Very loud room, with a AC that you can't turn off and will regularly will wake you up with loud noises through out the night.

Never again.

Liked: It was clean.
Disliked: The beds were cheap and the frames under there were barely held together. For $200 the room was small and barely any space to put our stuff down. Went for a walk and I got locked out at 1030 before the 11am check out with all my stuff still inside. After waiting 20 min for someone to get to the office inside , I had to make 3 attempts to get into my room. My friend never got his deposit back for his room.
