Macdonald Woodland Lodges at Macdonald Aviemore Resort

We really loved it here...

Liked: Spacious - all rooms en suite
Disliked: Kitchen could be larger and lodge could be modernised

Would go back.

Liked: Loved the location it was amazing. The staff in the Highland hotel were all so lovely the bar staff in particular. Everywhere is brilliant with dogs which was a huge plus for me. The lodge was nice. Will will come back and would recommened.
Disliked: The lodge could have been doing with some upgrages while it was clean and sheets/bedding spotless. Any other lodge i have been to had basic essentials oil for cooking some coffee etc this has nothing and was very basic. No oven which is not great for self catering. Could be doing with a paint was a bit dated. And would have loved a few outdoor seats in decking.

Good apart from the negative...

Liked: Location is beautiful
Disliked: The breakfast buffet food was rubbish and paying £20 plus for it was extortionate.

Exceptional

Great location, tired accommodation

Liked: Location is fabulous
Disliked: Lodges are tired and need a good renovation. We visited in 2011 and nothing has been updated. couches are old and saggy, carpet worn, kitchen badly needing replaced and the whole place needs painted.

Comfortable and convenient stop over

Liked: Very clean and surprisingly very very comfortable with en suite rooms and under floor heating . Excellent location only a five minute walk into town
Disliked: Kitchen a little small

Liked: Location is great.
Disliked: Less every trip. Used to receive a hamper, unlimited logs, robes and slipper, tea and coffee. None of the above bar 1 round of logs now supplied.Not all lodges have ovens.Breakfast has wide variety but hard sausages and potato scones every morning. Didn't bother for last 3 mornings. Lodges basic and in need of a freshen up.

It was a perfect venue...

Liked: Fantastic location for walking. Close to the train station and local amenities.
Disliked: Maybe some more logs would have been nice!
