A relaxing break in a...

Liked: Peaceful location with unspoilt views of surrounding Welsh mountains. Clean & spacious accommodation within bungalow which suited our stay. Grounds are well maintained. Friendly helpful staff.
Disliked: Nothing comes to mind that we didn’t like.

Perfect stay

Liked: The view from the accommodation was stunning. Everything was spotless, Good linen, towels, and comfortable beds. The indoor pool and steam room was great.
Disliked: The communication about the outdoor pool was poor as I was told prior to arrival that it was closed, then discovered it was open on day 2 but was locked day3 due to staff shortage. Shame.

Beautiful location and nice buildings,...

Liked: The check in staff were friendly and gave us an early check-in free of charge, which was very much appreciated as we had 4 bicycles and needed the room to store them securely. The apartments, the swimming pool and steam room were all great.
Disliked: The staff provided a very limited level of customer service overall, despite having few other guests to attend to. For example, we wanted to arrange a taxi, but they just pointed to a list of taxi companies, of which only 2 were in the local area and willing to take us. After we explained the difficulty arranging a cab, they just pointed us to the bus timetable. We also asked about lunch options, and were told there would be restaurants on site opening from 2pm, but this was not true. They then advised that a different hotel served food from 3pm, but after walking over, this turned out to be wrong. There was no food available on the site, or even in the village until 5pm, so we wasted a lot of time because of the incorrect information we were given. The printed information in rooms was also wrong. I had a general feeling that the staff didn't much care to help. Also the sauna and jacuzzi were out of service.

Liked: The location was exceptional. It was wonderful to wake each morning to that vista of mountains all around. The walks from the door of the resort were really good - through the woodland west with views as far as the sea, or down towards Pennal and the river itself.
Disliked: The resort needs refurbishment. The lodges and the central areas (reception, pool, changing rooms, gym etc) are tired and need modernising. The sauna and jacuzzi were not working while we were there. It is a shame - if the resort has some money spent on it it has the potential to be truly exceptional.

Liked: Location and ground are good
Disliked: villa 42 was unacceptable. Dirty, grubby and a million miles away from being luxurious accommodation. Kitchen doors hanging off, locks on doors not functioning correctly so felt unsafe, dead insects on the floors, mold on the curtains and in picture frames, toilet not fixed to the floor or wall, no shower curtains, cracks in the windows, stains all over the carpets, bin had left over tenants dinner on it, food stains on the walls and even the ceiling, damp fusty smell throughout. I would never recommend anyone staying here. Reading other reviews everyone says the same, run down and needs massive investment. Goes to show greed has gone ahead of customer satisfaction. To keep good standards profits need reinvesting.Shame on you.

Great retreat (except the food)

Liked: The games in the facility were amazing. Apart from the Tennis court, which needs to be maintained better, all the other games like table tennis, badminton, and swimming, were upto a satisfactory level. The spa was closed unfortunately but we enjoyed the resort thoroughly. If you want a quiet retreat from the city, this resort delivers just that. The views were an extra bonus.
Disliked: The only massive let down was the Indian restaurant on site. The food is terrible and tastes stale. There is only 1 restaurant on the premises and another pub down the road outside the premises. Unfortunately the pub was fully booked so we couldn’t try it and were stuck to order from the Indian restaurant. The food is tastless and not authentic Indian at all. I hope they can change their vendor because everything else at the resort is upto a good standard. If you want to eat while staying there, I recommend going into Machenllyth and visiting “White Lion”. Avoid the restaurant in the resort.
