Lovely stay

Liked: Pre visit before daughter’s wedding in October. Felt sorry for staff as there seemed to be littleStaff who had to do everything. Lovely hotel, lovely food and lovely experience. Lack of staff at reception was only downfall.

An old favourite but will...

Liked: It’s getting a little tired but we always return due to the lovely setting and the food quality. We were disappointed this time as 2 out of the 4 main meals weren’t available with their accompaniments on the dinner menu and breakfast was shockingly slow and poor - the fried egg was like a brick and the white was brown.

Liked: The staff were amazing, friendly and had a great sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We were really well looked after.

Liked: Lovely spacious room (The Huntley) with a wonderful view. We had dinner in the evening which was delicious. Breakfast was also delicious ☺️

Anniversary stay

Liked: We arrived at the hotel for our 15th anniversary as we had our wedding reception here. We have really enjoyed the beautiful location over the years and have stayed a few times, so we decided to stay over and have dinner bed and breakfast. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, as they allowed us to choose a larger double suite with stunning views of the grounds and bennachie. Unfortunately, I was very sick not long after arrival, (darn winter bugs) so I was unable to eat dinner, so they have honoured our dinner reservation for another date, which was very good of them. So the evening was sadly a letdown due to my illness as I was bedridden the whole time. Otherwise I'm sure it would have been a lovely evening in such a beautiful setting.
Disliked: Unfortunately the TV in the suite wasn't working, despite changing the battery in the remote several times.The water in the bath tub appeared to be brown, not sure if that is normal? The windows are old, mouldy around the window opening, as moisture gets in, and I couldn't keep them open as latches broke, so improvisation was needed here. One of the lights wasn't working either. These are Small details that could really help make the place a great stay if kept on top of.
