Great location, in need of...

Liked: Location was perfect for touring the Lake District.
Disliked: Range of beers in the bar was very limited. Room could be chilly if the extra heater wasn't provided. Needed a set of draws. Breakfast room very chilly as large windows no longer effective against winter temperatures. Breakfast - Sausages most unpleasant, lots of gristle, too herby. Butter on table wasn't butter, but was provided on request.

Disliked: The hidden parking charges. The breakfast was terrible, I asked for a poached egg and they brought me a hard boiled egg with the shell taken off.The waiter looked me in the eye and insisted it was a poached egg .Terrible slow and ignorant staff.Whole place needs an urgent refurbishment Terrible experience

Lovely Hotel, friendly staff but...

Liked: The staff were lovely and very friendly. The location was excellent. The bedrooms perfect.
Disliked: It was absolutely freezing in the bar and restaurant. I even went and got a jumper from our room to wear whilst we ate our evening meal. We were seated by the window which there was a horrendous draft. We would have had a few drinks in the bar after our meal but it was so cold we went back to our room which was lovely and cozy and watched tv and drank a bottle of wine we brought with us. Which to be honest was a shame as we had looked forward to an evening in the bar. Truly it was freezing. We did mention to the bar staff how cold it was and they said the residents bar which had a fire wasn’t open. We had a lovely time at Windermere/Bowness but to be honest we would recommend residents found another venue to spend the evening.

Great staff, hotel in need...

Liked: Great location, friendly and helpful staff.
Disliked: Worn out furnishings and decor, low water pressure in the showers, ancient heating system that took ages to warm the room. Compared to many hotels I've stayed in (and I stay in a lot of hotels) this needs a refurbishment. It is overpriced for the quality of the accommodation.
