High expectations but fell short.

Liked: Beautiful location and the lunch was excellent, staff were generally very friendly and welcoming
Disliked: Given it's a 4* hotel and we were upgraded to a 'deluxe' room I had high expectations but really the hotel is very dated. In the room the window handles were loose and windows difficult to close. The vanity mirror in the bathroom was nearly falling off and the decor generally needs updated. On arrival there was a guest complaining/arguing in reception with 2 staff and was still there 1.5hrs later. Our room wasn't ready on arrival, ended up being an hour after the scheduled available check in time, even though the hotel didn't seem to be busy.

very disappointed as we have...

Liked: the room
Disliked: we waited 40 mins for breakfast , no offer of fresh tea/coffee , the plates we did use for cereal did not get cleared from the table despite staff constantly walking past. when we went down for dinner we sat in the bar to have a drink before hand and the barman took 15 mins to serve us and never even acknowledged we were there
