Will not visit again.

Disliked: Rooms were dirty (hair in bathroom with a dirty razor), cobwebs and generally unclean. Moved rooms 3 times without improvement. Towel rails on full blast without option to switch off or adjust (hazard when travelling with an infant). Security latches removed from some rooms (not ideal for single female guests). Some sockets in room are unusable (eu rather than uk sockets). Room safe not operational. Shower tiles generally dated with black mould in places. Queue of circa 20 other guests also trying to change rooms due to issues. Hallways smelled of cannabis usage - staff seemed not to take complaint seriously. Staff unable to offer compensation for unsatisfactory stay without the non-present GM.

Very poor customer service -...

Liked: The staff were very friendly and the grounds were lovely. George behind the bar was great company and deserves a lot of praise for the way he interacts with guests.
Disliked: We booked an (expensive) suite. On arrival - we were not given the room shown in the pictures. We were told that they were for illustrative purposes only. And that somebody was staying long term in the room we had booked. Whilst friendly enough and apologetic they didn't make any effort to make up for the disappointment. Even a free drink at the bar would have been something! The room we were given didn't have a living area like teg one in the pictures - and didn't even have a bath. There were lots of dead flies on the windowsill which makes me worried about the standard of cleanliness. There was also a used vape down the side of the chair. Even little things - like there only being 1 biscuit in the tea and coffee making facilities. Another problem was the TV which didn't work properly on any channel and was constantly glitching and buffering. The bar prices are extortionate (a pint of Stella and a Malibu and coke was £16.75). We checked this later against the bar tariff on the wall and according to that it should have been £14 odd. Still expensive - but presumably the hotel have just increased their prices without adjusting the menu. Also you can't get any food at the hotel after 9pm so be careful if you're arriving late.We also put in a complaint to the head office but are still waiting for a reply. I did manage to get through to somebody on the day we arrived but it sounded like they were just about to leave for the day and couldn't be bothered listening. They suggested I send an email - which I've done but haven't heard back from. Not even an acknowledgement that a complaint has been registered.I've a bad feeling this chain is going down the same route as some of the other big operators. The hotels no longer seem to have any autonomy and the head offices don't want to know.Shame as it's a lovely old building.

A nice place, but we...

Liked: I liked the grounds and breakfast, and the second room we had was good. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Disliked: The first room we were put in , at about 10pm a continuous machanical type noise was heard next to our room. It was impossible to sleep, so eventually it meant us changing rooms , which as we were very tired, it was difficult. Also there was no information in the room, which could have been helpful to know how to contact reception, or to remind us what time breakfast was.

It was great, we will...

Liked: The hotel is lovely, it is surrounded by nature which our little one loved! Our little one also loved the fairy lights outside the hotel, especially the one around the tree! There’s also plenty of parking spaces. Staffs were lovely and very welcoming. The family room was very spacious. Our bed was comfortable, having a cot was a bonus! There was a fan in the room as it can get quite warm at night. Breakfast was great apart from the scrambled eggs - I found it runny for my liking.
Disliked: Overall, the property was nice and decent. The only thing I can say is that it is quite outdated but if you don’t mind that then you’ll enjoy this place!

Another pleasant stay

Liked: We stay regularly at this hotel and always pleased. However I do wish someone would improve the dining facilities. We really would like to eat there but neither the menu nor the lack of atmosphere on the dining room doesn’t tempt us. We always stay in one of the suites and it would be nice not to have to get a taxi to a close restaurant. However will no doubt stay again.
Disliked: Restaurant
