Had gone to recharge with...
Liked: Beautiful building, smelt lovely, lots of care gone into the decor and had a lovely older feel to it without needing to be ‘updated’ or modernised. I loved it.
Disliked: Nothing!

Terrible avoid at all costs
Liked: Nothing about the hotel was good.
Disliked: This was our minimoon after getting married earlier this week.I had messaged the hotel and they had said that they would decorate the room romantically and have a bottle of Prosecco in the room (which they were going to charge me for). When we walked thought the door to the room after checking in there was nothing of the sort and for the money we were very disappointed to say the least.Walking round the room there was multiple large stains on the carpet and all the walls were scuffed in many places. There was also a substantial amount of dust on the light fitting which had not been cleaned for months and with having a respiratory condition is far from ideal or healthy for me.The First breakfast we were pit in what I would consider a corridor to the rooms with about a 1/3 of the breakfast on offer in the main dining area we waited over 40 minutes and we were ignored and never even got a cooked breakfast. The second morning we were seated in the main breakfast area and realised what we missed out on but the cooked breakfast was cold. The final morning my wife decided not to go for breakfast after the poor experience but I went down and waited over 30 minutes for some sausages which never came but other table were served their so called hot food despite coming in after me, as we had to check out by 11am I had to get back to the room and finish packing and take my luggage to the car.The tea and coffee station in the room was not filled up every day and each day a different veriety of items were left which says to me that they are not trained in how to set out a room as every day every room should be set up the same and some of the sugars that were left were solid as they had had coffee spilt over them. The bathroom had dirt on the shower screen that had not been cleaned properly for may months as it was black. On checkout the had the audacity to try to charge me £49 for a bottle of Prosecco which we never even saw.The staff were very rude to us.

Good
Liked: The facilities (spa area and hydro) were lovely the hydro was a lot hotter than previous which was nice however is now outdated and does need work and tiles need redoing in the pool. I did not allow it to put me off as the hydro pool was relaxing and helped me for my joints. Times are good and you can go from early morning to late evening and can fit around other plans for the day. The natura flavoured water before entering facilities is a lovely touch and makes you feel refreshed. Staff were very accommodating and met all requirements that we asked. Give thanks to housekeeping as prepared the room each morning after we left for the day and sometimes would not even ask and would have amenities up! We had dinner one night and the food was the best we have ever tasted and this comes with a price so do expect it to be a bit pricey. We ate most nights in Bath. This is our third time coming to Macdonald and would continue to return.
Disliked: Towel rail and amenities in bathroom need to be ensured to be topped up but not a overal issue. The room was too muggy however this was due to current weather and aircon set on seasonal weather we believe as told no cold air. Room needed a little refresh this is due to property and needing maintenance. However overall stay was good. The breakfast was overpriced for what it was and had breakfast in the centre , additional bits to breakfast was extra charged but was not told this

A perfectly splendid stay and...
Liked: Probably one of the nicest hotels in the UK I’ve stayed in. This is due to the mix of pros the hotel has to offer… It’s a stunning building situated on beautiful grounds in close proximity to Bath town, with plenty of areas to sit, dine, chat and relax. The room had a real charm to it, and was substantial in size. Staff were absolutely wonderful, which makes all the difference. We were lucky to stay during beautiful sunny weather so early in the year, and to be able to relax in a heated (and I mean VERY heated, like hot-tub-hot!) swimming pool outdoors with the sun shining down on u really was heavenly. The restaurant food was fantastic, too. If a little pricey, and I wonder if that’s why it wasn’t as busy in the evenings as you’d expect. Whereas in the day many people seemed to come to the hotel to have al fresco business meetings outside in the courtyard, enjoying coffees or afternoon tea.
Disliked: I don’t have any complaints whatsoever, but will feedback that the 24hr room service didn’t seem to be available late in the evenings.

Stay in Macdonald Bath Spa...
Liked: Beautiful hotel that needs some TLC to come into its full glory.
Disliked: Rooms require upgrade, example electrical points need to be supplied for mobiles and other devices. Proper tea/coffee facilities need to be set up. Having one small table with an expresso machine and then a kettle stuck in a TV cupboard with no electrical point makes no sense. The Spa also needs some upgrading. Some of the tiles in the steam room are missing. Some of the tiles are missing in the hydro therapy pool and there is black mould growing. Pricing of the meals need to be reviewed. The prices are higher than most of the restaurants in the town , example breakfast is £26 yet I can get the same if not better for £12 in the town. Housekeeping wasn't up to scratch. Put a please service room sign on our door on Tuesday. Room not done. Had a housekeeper arrive at about 1730 while I was trying to climb in the shower to give us supplies. Also couldn't locate any type of central heating in the room so had to make use of the heater supplied which didn't really heat much. Disappointed with my stay, was expecting 5 star yet the reality is that the hotel is only a 3 star.
