Macdonald Aviemore Hotel

Myself and husband stayed here...

Liked: Swimming , shopping. Food
Disliked: Waiters putting out cutlery on tables while wiping his nose and touching the cutlery with that same fingers to wipe his nose . Made me feel sick and I did not eat the rest of my breakfast

Disappointing. Overpriced.

Liked: Location
Disliked: At breakfast, songs that were being in played in the background had F swearword in them. My 11 year old daughter pointed it out to me. Told waitress who seemed to think it was funny, but at least went off to deal with it.Couldn’t check in until after 5pm.Hotel very tired. Damage to walls and doors all over. Clearly in need of a light refurb.Not worth the money.

Lovel comf and close to...

Liked: Room was comfy and clean and with a view which I had asked for
Disliked: It was perfect for both of us,although a bit noisy with kids running up and down corridors,but it is the summer holidays,and the resort is all geared up for kids,but parents should not allow kids to run up and down corridors

Lovely hotel & friendly staff.

Liked: Good facilities & ideal location for the Cairn Gorms. Lovely staff especially the Australian guy who worked behind the bar
Disliked: Very late check in. Over priced.

Good location, feels tired.

Liked: Location.
Disliked: Placed in area that was directly over kids disco. I could feel the vibrations in room and given no room move. Room wasnt cleaned until 5pm both days just as we were coming back from our days adventure.

Underwhelmed stay but excellent swimming...

Liked: We loved the swimming pool!! Its was incredible especially the evening poolDisco
Disliked: The hotel didn’t look nice at all from the outside , it was very tired looking . The same was inside at receptionToo. The breakfast set up felt odd as it was set up in the bar . The welcome felt lack lustre and we had no pillow cases in our room. This was quickly fixed but showed a lack of care in the set up

Good base for days out...

Liked: The site had a swimming pool with a slide as advertised- and a pool party at evening time- great for children! The Italian restaurant onsite was nice. Tesco and some sport shops etc are near and walkable. Phone signal and internet signal was strong.
Disliked: The corridors smelt like mould, old fashioned interior and technology. The entertainment was very limited, especially trying to entertain children. We had filtered our selection for hot tubs- this came up as it has a jacuzzi- however this was out of action as there weren’t enough staff through our stay. Aviemore was more of a base for us, travelling to Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, Glencoe etc. However we had to stay on site due to the storm, and we got very bored. There wasn’t much inside (bad weather) entertainment.
