The Spotlight on Lysses House Hotel

Classic Charm Just Minutes from Fareham's Concert Scene

Lysses House Hotel is a refined Georgian-style property nestled in the heart of Fareham. Located on the town’s main shopping street, it blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. With lush gardens, a welcoming lounge bar, and a top-rated restaurant, this hotel offers a peaceful retreat just a short walk from the town centre and easily accessible from the M27.
All rooms are classically furnished and include private bathrooms, flat-screen Freeview TVs, and Wi-Fi access—ideal for planning your concert night or streaming your favorite artist post-show.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel’s central Fareham location puts you within easy reach of local music venues and public transport, making it a great home base for catching gigs in Portsmouth, Southampton, or nearby. Guests appreciate the peaceful atmosphere for winding down after a show, and the elegant lounge is a great spot for a quiet nightcap. While check-in starts at 15:00, the staff are friendly and helpful, often accommodating early arrivals when possible.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a stylish yet affordable stay
- Solo travelers attending a special concert night
- Couples planning a relaxed weekend of music and sightseeing
- Fans who want a quiet space to recharge after a lively gig
- Budget-conscious concert-goers who value charm and comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Richmond Restaurant is a local favorite, offering elegant dining that’s perfect before or after a show. The bar and lounge area serves drinks into the evening, and while there’s no 24/7 room service, staff are happy to help with late requests. A hearty breakfast is available in the morning—just what you need after a late night out. There are also plenty of walkable pubs and eateries nearby.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you’re just a short stroll from Fareham’s pubs and bars, many of which feature local acts and DJ nights. For more vibrant nightlife, Portsmouth and Southampton are an easy drive or train ride away. Prefer a quieter scene? The hotel bar is a cozy spot to unwind with a craft drink or a glass of wine.

What People Say

Guests consistently mention the friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, and the hotel’s classic charm. Many reviews highlight the great location for exploring the area and attending events, as well as the peaceful atmosphere ideal for post-concert relaxation.

Areas for Improvement

The decor leans toward traditional rather than trendy, which might not suit those looking for a boutique vibe. Some guests noted that rooms facing the street can pick up light traffic noise—so request a garden-facing room if you're sensitive to sound. Also, there's no elevator, so pack light if you're heading to a top-floor room.

The Bottom Line

With its central location, charming atmosphere, and relaxing vibe, Lysses House Hotel is a top pick for concert-goers seeking comfort and convenience in Fareham.

Lovely hotel

Liked: Everything! Very comfortable bed; lovely garden and terrace to while away a very hot afternoon; excellent breakfast; good dinner in the restaurant or a nice range of bar meals if you're not so hungry. An efficient fan was provided in the bedroom which, along with wide-opening windows, made the very hot nights bearable. The staff were efficient and friendly, making us feel like truly welcome guests.
Disliked: A tiny niggle, not really a dislike but I wish some instruction had been provided as to how to operate the dual-headed shower. In three days, I never managed to escape without an unexpected gowt of water from the ceiling giving me an unplanned hairwash!

Perfect for a one nighter,...

Liked: Good selection of cereals, juices and cooked breakfast, great central location and the outside terrace and garden are delightful. Staff generally great and very friendly (although morning waiter could've been a little more proactive ie no fried bread arrived with the full English and he needed prompting to get it delivered separately).
Disliked: The hotel really needs updating and a complete redesign. The bedroom furniture was more 90s office style and the bathrooms quite old ie lino needs replacing and the wall mounted snake/ pipe hairdryer could be a museum piece!

Ideal for what we wanted.

Liked: Breakfast was very good, our room on the ground floor was good with a king size bed as requested. No noise. The garden was lovely to sit out in. All the staff were very welcoming.

Great reception staff, a very...

Liked: It’s location, & the friendly reception staff & in general the cooked breakfasts where of a very good standard. Further, the bathroom towels were of a high standard.
Disliked: The upkeep & the general maintenance was of a very low standard the outlook from the bedroom window was horrible looking onto lower roofs, there was a noisy a/c unit outside the window but the room only had a very low powered domestic fan.The room decor was grubby around the skirting boards. There was unsightly staining on the ceiling tiles. I would have thought at around £360 for three nights you may have been able to put more than one packet of biscuits in the tea tray.We had reserved dinner at the restaurant for the Tuesday evening but the young male breakfast server was a little brusk it kind off put us of having dinner in the restaurant that evening, therefore we cancelled. In general, for your hotel to compete with the likes of competitors like Voco, you need a complete overhaul and update.
