Great staff but beds are...
Liked: The welcome and friendliness from all the staff was outstanding - makes such a huge difference.Also the views and grounds were absolutely brilliant.
Disliked: No offer of assistance with luggage, restaurant deal limited to £40 per head but charged £150 extra for two chips and four soft drinks - bit of a rip off! Worst was the beds, we requested two adjoining rooms both with twin beds - we were allocated rooms 022 and 024 so not adjoining and the twin beds in both were like children's beds, so small, low and way too soft almost rolled out and so hard to turn or get comfortable - all four of us did not sleep well and worsened our usual aches and pains considerably and we were all exhausted the next day - not quite the quiet, relaxing, luxury stay we were so looking forward to and paid extremely high prices to book - definitely not value for money!

Disliked: Closing in September and totally run down.. 1/2 staff have been made redundant and the rest are doing what they can. Food was ok but our room was disgraceful.

Luxurious but short-staffed
Liked: The grounds are beautiful, the house is stunning, and has a relaxing vibe. Chris the porter was lovely. We enjoyed the swimming pool, and loved our large room (147). Dinner was delicious.
Disliked: Lack of staff. We tried to get a late afternoon drink on the terrace and had to wait 15 minutes to be served then were told we needed to carry our drinks out to the terrace, the staff wouldn’t. While we were on the terrace another table had their drinks brought out. When I checked out the receptionist didn’t wish us a safe journey or ask us about our stay. He just didn’t seem interested. These little incidents made me feel it was not really a 5-star experience.
