Lumley Castle Hotel

Overall a lovely place to stay, very cosy, comfortable and relaxing....

Liked: A real castle! Very comfortable and cosy and the staff and my room were lovely!
Disliked: I wish that the restaurant had been opened at all times and that the bar had more variety in respect of special diets. For non-drivers it was a very long walk to the road, to the bus stop - a little lift option would have been lovely as I hurt my ankles with walking backwards and forward up that slope!

Live like a mediaeval noble

Liked: Beautiful building, and a very fun experience to spend time in a castle. The staff are great and the food at the restaurant was fantastic. The Queen Anne room is so fun, full of little rooms and a fun way to feel like an old style noble
Disliked: It's a little hard to find your way around at first, not super well signed.

Perfect for a special occasion

Liked: Beautiful place, with a lovely little woodland walk around the back (only takes 5-10 minutes) staff could not be more helpful, they're all super friendly and very professional and the food was brilliant. Didn't try the restaurant but the library bar was exceptional. Food was delivered quickly and finished to a very high standard. Overall I would say this is a high end short term stay. You're handy to the city and all it has to offer but in the middle of a golf course so you feel out in the sticks.
Disliked: Mattress was a little too soft

Liked: Our second time at LC, we took a picnic to have in the grounds, enjoyed a lovely walk in and around the place, lots to look at and explore.Breakfast was amazing, buffet continental followed by a choice of cooked breakfasts served by the loveliest team
Disliked: The room was a bit tired, loose sockets etc Bar prices quite steep

Beautiful, historical and very comfortable!!

Liked: The castle is very beautiful and it has a unique charm.
Disliked: There was nothing not to like about the property but it does look like it needs a little bit of TLC even for an old building. It was very clean and comfortable though.
