Lulu Guldsmeden is an environmentally-friendly sustainable hotel that is a unique combination of modern design and Nordic-style sleekness. It is located in a historic building from 1850 in Berlin's Tiergarten/Mitte district and features a restaurant with organic dishes. Most of the ceilings at the Lulu Guldsmeden are 13 feet high and some of the rooms decorated in a family-loft style can accommodate up to 4 people. Most rooms are equipped with a colonial style four-poster bed and a flat-screen TV while all rooms on the 4th floor have air-conditioning. All rooms have a fan except for the 20 rooms on the rooftop they have air-conditioning. The Loft rooms all include a swing and are particularly popular with children. Private bathrooms with free organic toiletries and a hairdryer are featured in all rooms. There is a 24-hour front desk at the property. The hotel also offers bike hire. Loved staying her and would...

Liked: The general ambience, cosy space tasteful and bohemian decor, background music in the shared space. Staff were lovely and helpful. Bedroom was beautiful and VERY comfy bed. Toiletries were fantastic, I wish I could have bought some! The courtyard space was gorgeous with bedrooms feeling very peaceful on such a busy road. Overall, fantastic and would come back!
Disliked: It feels picky to criticise, but more fresh fruit at breakfast would have been good. Breakfast was good but for the price a little disappointing; I had really looked forward to fruit but there was only grapefruit and orange which felt too acidic for my stomach.A kettle/teabags in the room would have been great.Sadly we could not get dinner when we arrived and were too tired to head out, but there were valid reasons.

This place was built to...

Liked: All the staff went out of their way to make us feel as though we were in a sanctuary. They lived and demonstrated the environmental culture. They used MacOS machines on the front desk. Shows they do not settle for second best. The best coffee in Berlin this side of Templehof
Disliked: Some extra respite from smoking areas would be welcome The swing in the room was just in an odd place. No room to really test it out No light source above the desk.

Liked: Loved the family room set up, busstop at front
Disliked: Hot in the room, and it wasn't that warm outside, especially up top where the girls were sleeping, location a little off, mattrasses could be better

Pleasant

Liked: Decor was nice and hotel was clean.
Disliked: Check in process was incredibly painful with quite unhelpful staff. I had already completed the online form to speed up the check in process so I dread to think how slow it would have been if I hadn't. Every time I needed to speak to the front desk I had to queue for at least 15 minutes as there was only ever one receptionist.Also, we had rooms with 4 people staying in them and no aircon - not exactly comfortable!

Very comfortable room with cool...

Liked: Super funky and fun. Decent location close to bus stop.
Disliked: Amenities could like free coffee in the morning and a complimentary small fridge would have been appreciated.
