Liked: It was bright & airy with plenty of flowers in the foyer. The bar & restaurant was cosy and the food was very good. Each and every member of the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

Liked: Hotel was perfect for our visit to Carlow, room was very comfortable and breakfast was really good with something to suit everyone. I plan to stay here again and would definitely recommend

Liked: Breakfast was good. Location was very good with some great walks along the river.
Disliked: The smell of lilies immediately upon entry was awful, especially for someone with allergies like me (and indeed one of the reception staff herself, so she said). I'd suggest it is completely unnecessary and somewhat unthoughtful to have so many. Even worse was the fact that the fire alarm over the bed went off at 1.30 in the morning. Eventually it stopped so we could assume there was no fire. But it led to a disturbed night. There was no notice up the next day (eg at the breakfast room) apologising and explaining to guests. I asked at reception and was told it had been a fault in the system in the conference room and that it does happen when there has been a fire used there or nearby. In that case the hotel should fix it or ban fires being used and at least forewarn guests (even if they fix it) that this has happened in the past. Very poor approach from a hotel aiming to be first rate.
