Disliked: Never got a refund for a night I paid where there was no hot water

Grimy and unbearable to stay...

Disliked: When we first walked in to check in we didn’t know where to put ourselves, as we were greeted, we paid for our stay in total of £210.00, we then got hit with having to submit a £60 deposit on top of that, which was explained it doesn’t leave our account until check out to ensure we didn’t damage our rooms, which typically I see as normal. However, after walking up the stairs minutes later, and seeing the damage already in the room, it’s no surprise why the £60 deposit is in place. The carpet on the stairs looked like they hadn’t hoovered it since it probably first opened. Still also has plastic sheeting from work being done (presumably and no workmen in sight). The room was a mess, didn’t even have an inside door handle for the bathroom, the door wasn’t on the hinges properly and holes in said door also, marks all over the walls, tea stains on the side, the window doesn’t shut properly. The list goes on. We was never informed of noise on a night due to music from downstairs, or else quite frankly, we would never have booked. £105 a night is a joke for what we received. We lasted 4 hours and left. Never offered us a refund after speaking with staff before leaving. We also witnessed another couple leave 20 minutes before we did in the room next door, just goes to show how grimy and unbearable the hotel was. Would never stay here again even if I was paid handsomely. All we wanted to do was have somewhere nice to stay/sleep after a few days of camping in our camper van, we left and ended up staying the rest of our trip in the camper van again! I have never in my life walked out of a hotel before, nor gone out of my way to write a bad review, but we are so disappointed and wouldn’t want anyone else to experience what we had experienced.Avoid at all costs!!

Disliked: To be honest the place is nothing like what you see in the advertisement and I and I don't want to be rigorous but honestly the place can improve a lot.The staff were nice and the pub downstairs is amazing also, the locals around nothing to complain about it. I'm not going to lie I swear to God, when we arrived to the place first thing we saw was the blankets they didn't seem really clean but I'm a humble and not exigent guy so I was about to sleep when my British friend told me to check them before I lay on them and I did and lucky I did it, I found a big spider that if I don't check probably it would have bitten me during the night. The socket that connects the kettle also, the plug is not close to the table so basically you have to move the kettle to the closest socket to get hot water and make tea or coffee.The shower also, there was no hot water, I'm not lying, it's true honestly.I was on a rush trip and didn't want to complain and argue with anyone but honestly I don't think it's worth what I paid and I don't want to ruin their business as they're nice people I won't say the opposite but in my personal opinion, I won't ever book that place in my life again.I've never been robbed like this, I've been to many hotels but never something like this.

Disliked: Booked bedroom with bathroom and there was no hot water all weekend we stayed, no hairdryer also. In the middle of the night a drunk man burst into the room, i have no idea how he got a keys. Very noisy as there is a bar downstairs, and people drinking alcohol in their rooms, speaking loudly. We didn't have a proper rest. Not recommend, unless you want to get drunk and have a bed to sleep.

Good enough for a place...

Liked: The rooms had just been renovated which made a big difference to my overall experience with the rest of the hotel. Having said this a couple of things could make the room I was in more homely…Perhaps a full length mirror A second bedside for when more than one guest is staying in the room, as well as an extra plug socket installed where possible.
Disliked: The main thing I was a bit taken aback by was when I first arrived I was informed there was no hot water for the duration of my stay, not the end of the world but not the most comfortable or pleasant experience having to just have a cold wash at the sink. The barman was apologetic and did offer me a free drink for the inconvenience but I can’t see anyone else who was staying longer than one night being very happy with this. Some other aspects that would make the rooms more pleasant would be :More attention to detail in terms of housekeeping (windows, shelving, inside drawers etc) A going over of the chipped paint would go a long way to not make it look for lack of a better word, “scruffy” or “not doing the renovations justice” There was no hairdryer in the room for even when there is hot water. There was no mattress or pillow protectors on the bed and both were stained.
