It was ok. Some bits...

Liked: This was a lovely place to stay but felt like it would have been lovelier 15 years ago - clearly someone spent a good deal of money initially (fixtures and fittings were clearly expensive when put in) but it all felt a bit faded and old and underinvested in. The beds were super comfortable and the host was lovely when we arrived.
Disliked: Would have liked the carbon monoxide alarm to have been working. A Wi-Fi code shared (there was WiFi but no password supplied so couldn’t use it) and some tea not just coffee.

Very good

Liked: Great location minutes from the sea which is what we were aiming for.Very peaceful room, good facilities which offered a very relaxing stay.

I would definitely recommend Lockgate...

Liked: We booked the same day we arrived and so called to confirm. We then called a few more times to change our arrival time. Each time, the response was cordial and welcoming. When we arrived, we had a lovely chat and received great recommendations. Just a lovely experience.
Disliked: The bathroom was arranged for someone taller. The towels were high overhead and the mirror was high upon the wall. It would be great to have a motion detector nightlight or smaller light without a fan in the bathroom, so we don't wake our partner in the middle of the night. No major issues, just little tweaks.

Exceptional

Liked: Nice clean room, quiet and out of the way but not too far from town. The owner was super freindly.
Disliked: It was a bit cold on arrival. Soon warmed up tho, and then it was nice and tostie.

Exceptional

Liked: Lovely accommodation perfect for our family group as plenty of bathrooms between us all. Martin rescued our Christmas get together trip as the property we originally booked in South Hayling was cancelled on us at 7pm the night before we travelled! Martin's property was offered as an alternative and we booked at about 10:30pm giving him very little advance warning of our arrival the next afternoon. Despite this he allowed us a slightly earlier check in so my elderly mum could get in the warm and rest. We were delighted with both cottages and our Christmas trip was saved..
Disliked: Nothing we didn't like...the wifi was a little "weak" but this had no adverse effect on us.
