Great location, wonderful food and...

Liked: It was handy for Dumfries House which we had been visiting. The room was spacious and quiet and the gardens were beautiful and well tended. The views of the loch were stunning. The staff were welcoming and the food lovely.

Liked: The view from our suite was incredible and balcony was much bigger than we expected. The grounds are beautiful as was every part of the hotel that we saw.

Underwhelmed & disappointed

Liked: The EV charging facilities were really good. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The room was a good size with Balcony.
Disliked: We booked The Lowes Suite with Balcony. The decor in the room was a bit tired. Despite the room being a generous size , the bed was only a double - totally under sized. Every other suite we have ever been has had at least a large king bed in it. The pillows were also not comfortable. We had a spacious balcony with seating for about 10 people, but couldn't use it because there were no cushions - despite the 3 week run of beautiful weather the balcony should have been set up before our arrival.. All the paintwork on the woodwork in the corridors and room doors were chipped. The soft door closers on every door were not adjusted so as not to bang shut on closing. We were kept awake till 3.30am with doors banging shut. The lighting in the bathroom was poor and not suitable for doing hair, makeup etc. The ceiling over the bath was covered in black mould. The hand held part of the shower was broken as was the temperature control. When the Shower was turned on it was scalding hot water straight away. It had to be turned a full 360 twice before we had any cold water come through. The bathroom door was damaged - covered in chipped and missing paint and water damaged on the bottom edge. No Air Con in the room only a temperature controlled radiator. The room was boiling even with the balcony door open. No small fridge or room safe. We had dinner in the Restaurant. No vibe or atmosphere and food was average. On check out we were not asked how our stay was, we had to ask them if they wanted any feed back. They were not particularly bothered.

Excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings

Liked: My partner and I had a lovely stay at the Lochside hotel. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous with swans on the loch and cherry blossoms by a pond and a fountain. All the staff were lovely, breakfast and dinner were great and I had the most delicious chocolate fudge cake I’ve had in my life
