Disappointing
Liked: The staff was excellent when checking us in and trying to help with some issues with the room. The location is great, and having access to valet parking was also good. We enjoyed the artwork, the small size of the hotel and the location being generally quiet, but would pick a different hotel the next time due to the need for upgrades and our perceived value for the money.
Disliked: The first room we had been assigned to appeared to be a premier king room (the same level of room we booked), but upon entering the room, which had an adjoining door, we could hear a screaming child in the room next door and knew this would not work for us during a two-night stay. The room we were moved to, room 310, was very small (you could barely walk around the king bed), dark and dated (furniture) and had a few issues. First, we discovered the light bulb did not work in the one bedside lamp (there was only one bedside table, which was a dresser), but the staff was prompt in replacing the bulb. Next, we discovered the safe in the room did not have any batteries in the keypad, but again, the staff was prompt and helped out by bringing up batteries; however, the safe still did not work. Finally, the hair dryer in the bathroom only worked for a couple of minutes before shutting off (tripping the fuse). Each time it was reset, it would stop working, and it was also coming lose on the wall. The bathroom itself was very small with a corner, free-standing type shower with a handheld wand, and there was only a tiny bit of space for your own toiletries. Given we had already switched rooms and were on a tight schedule, we did not want to keep asking for another room, but we appreciated the staff trying to be helpful. My point here is that for the money, one could find a nicer hotel with updated rooms and a more consistent quality. Breakfast, which was included in the cost, consisted of croissants, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, apples, coffee, juice and tea. If you are looking for a more substantial breakfast or have dietary restrictions, this might not be for you. With a little attention to detail and investment in upgrades, this could be a lovely boutique hotel, but as it stands, based on our experience, the artwork only gets you so far.
